I’m someone who became a huge Mariah fan at the end of 2016 and truthfully when I first became a fan I definitely preferred her earlier career. However, the more I got to know Mariah and hear her talk about music and herself in interviews and such, and the more I listened to her more recent catalog, I began to fall in love with her later projects as well. And now I prefer her r&b! Her most recent release with muni long is incredible! Anyways, I enjoyed the video and I can’t wait to hear more from you ❤😊

6:40 I think that the answer to that question is more related to the time when people "discovered her" and their emotional bias as in nostalgia and amazement created by that discovery at the time. I remember being completely obssessed with her and listening to Music box all day long for months, learning every single riff, every harmony and instrumentation. Then came Daydream and the same cycle restarted. LOL I miss those days.

Mariah's voice is what makes her story so intriguing!!! Its just so unique and different from everybody. Mariah has had hiphop influences since her debut honestly but it got very prominent in the song DreamLover and then Fantasy remix and many songs from Daydream to when it become prominent in the Butterfly album. I prefer her vocals post 2010! Tbh

I really enjoyed that you included the racial component because she has spoken about how in the beginning of her career when she wasn’t allowed to make many decisions on the style and genre of her music and was pushed into being as Pop (and white washed)as possible. The label /ex husband really did not want her making anything remotely black sounding. The moment she started calling the shots is when her music flipped to that more RnB sound and personally I think that’s when her vocals really start to shine

Many true lambs aren’t stuff in the 90s. But those are def some of her best vocals. I’d look into My All Live 2016-2019. Many Beacon Theater performances from 2014-2017. The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour 2016. Many Australian 2013 performances. 2009 I Want To Know What Love Is Live from X Factor. 2018 I’ll Be There Live.

I knew a singer in the 90s who had curly hair and a beautiful voice from watching MTV videos. I eventually learned her name, Mariah Carey. First songs of hers that I heard is Hero. Then I got a cassette tape of Daydream. I would listen to it over and over again on side A and B, haha. I also had to fix the tape with a pencil repeatedly.😁

6:46 I've been a fan since 1993, seen the highs of highs and the lowest of lows. I truly believe her current vocal state is due to stuff happening behind the scenes via management. She has expressed several times over the past few years that she is unhappy with management. It's clear they got her strung out on meds that is affecting her voice and mental state. She always sounds her best when she is happy, and it's clear she isn't these days. From her looking like a zombia on stage, to her not really caring to lip properly is just so sad to see. The truth will come to light and we will see her emancipate once again from the strings that are currently ruling over her life. #FreeMariah

for me personally, why we lambs like her 90s performances more is bc thats when she was performing live, her performances after the 90s or early 2000s were pretty much lip synced, not that we think she can no longer sing, but her confidence in herself started deteriorating, we can see that in 2003 she was in her vocal "prime" again, the same in 2005 she was delivering iconic vocal moments, but during MOIA era she was also performing less and even if she did it was lipped
@sstevee19887 ай бұрын
She already had 8 albums of not so much classic Mariah (belting , clear whistles and colarotures and legato moments). We want a melodic album with not so much production, and background layers....and also no autotune like "Me I am Mariah". An album with Clear sound and Pure authenic vocals.
@oneilgerald7 ай бұрын
Oo! Thanks for sharing. I will say. Mariah has always evolved her style with the times; not to mention that she’s also evolved as a woman. I think asking for an album that asks for “classic Mariah” dismisses both what it took to get her to the artistry she presents now and her desire to make music that she wants to make. No problem with wanting something from her, but I think it’s worth pondering. Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

No other fanbase is tied to the past more than the Lambs because most artists haven’t suffered from severe vocal declines. Their recent vocal performances are just as good as their primes or early performances. Post 2005, especially post 2013, you’ll just find lambs are cherry-picking very specific vocal moments because the overall vocal performance is inconsistent. Very hit or miss.
@jaylenstevens8878 ай бұрын
Not true! We lambs very much enjoy recent vocals! We just go to past vocals because people like to play in Mariah face like she wasn’t/isn’t one of the greatest vocalists ever!
