Looks like nobody complain about Beyonce having a different voice. While Ariana Grande's voice has changed but some people making so much fuss about it. My God, humans are very hypocritic in this world.

I am a die hard lamb! a fan since 91 so it really hurts me to say that caution is her worst Album imo.I It just felt so lifeless with hardly any passion. or standouts...it felt rushed and that showed in the quality of the final product. I was one of the few who actually liked GTFO and its the only track from caution that I still love. Hoping I gel with her new project and i'm glad she's taking her time with it.

The song was not written for Céline..it was the great Edith Piaf who wrote it in 1949 after losing her lover, boxing champion Marcel Cerdan, in a plane crash. Hymne à l’amour is the title & Céline was marvelous ❤

The hymn to love “Édith Piaf” The blue sky over us may collapse And the earth may well collapse I don't care if you love me I don't care about the whole world As long as love floods my mornings As long as my body quivers under your hands I don't care about the problems My love, since you love me... I would go to the ends of the world I would get dyed blonde If you asked me... I would go and get the moon I would go and steal the fortune If you asked me... I would deny my homeland I would deny my friends If you asked me... You can laugh at me, I would do anything If you asked me... If one day life tears you away from me If you die, may you be far from me I don't care if you love me Because I will die too... We will have eternity for us In the blue of all the immensity In the sky, no more problems My love, do you think we love each other?... … God brings together those who love each other!

But you do know she wasn't singing live don't you? This performance has been digitally analysed and it has been proven that the vocal was tidied up. There is also footage of her reharsing and singing along to the broadcast version and you can clealry hear in the original live broadcast that there are two voices, the pre-recorded and the live, which then fades into this version.

Most performances by many artists in which the vocal was prerecorded are pitch corrected to some degree. Correct use of pitch correction is like what professional photographers do to photos in the editing stage. Ironically, what you said about “tidying” up her vocal is an apt description. No one created this vocal out of nothing; no one created her sound or her tone in the studio. It is HER voice you are hearing, and she already had to have the stamina, the strength, and ability to deliver the song. The pitch correction is just to tidy up the performance. It cannot fabricate a performance and it cannot transfer a lackluster performance into a great one. Celine built the house. Whatever pitch correction may be there is the final touch up. Everyone uses pitch correction, both in the studio and in live performances. Let’s not use that to detract from Celine’s remarkable accomplishments and performance.

Whether or not the performance was pre-recorded is a distraction from the triumph being had here. Adjusted or not, she couldn't sing like this even in a studio a very short while ago. Her standing and delivering a performance at all is a major win and the more we distract from that, the more we feed the voices discouraging someone like Celine from fighting her way to the stage.

Always get in mind that for a first performance live she add the perfect conditions she was alone up there with her pianist she was very far from the crowd and on that therms she was composed emotionally for a first Time it was perfect for her to not have problems with her illness during the performance ❤im sooooo happy for her

As a native french speaker, honestly O'Neil, the french language is really uncomfortable to belt in 😅 "Classical french" (so pretty much the Parisian accent) has a lot of nasalized (is that even a word ?) small vowels and the open vowels tend to be somewhat throaty in nature. Both northern and southern France (as well as Québec) have more twangy more singable accents though. But classical french forces you to do _a lot_ more vowel modification than say English or Italian. Most of the vowels that Celine sits on during this performance would sound "americanized" to the native french speaking ear.
@oneilgerald
@oneilgerald 17 күн бұрын
This is such good info! Now the point I made about the ease in the French vowels was less about her belts and more about the clarity of tone on notes in the general tessitura of the song, beneath the belts. The belts were DEFINITELY modified. The opportunity for clarity came from Celine who applied her vowel knowledge to the song, but also from the composer, who chose where each of the vowels sat in the melody. The language seems to be more awkward in the belting, but I believe the way the melody was written brought opportunities for more open, resonant vowels. So my comment was applied to the general language when I probably should have emphasized the composition more. Thanks for the clarity! 🙏🏾

And in the documentary that was her first time singing in two years, so it sounded as if her vocal cords had atrophied! That was so hard to watch, for someone who has taken such care of her voice and maintain it as impeccably as she has for over four decades to then lose it by no fault of her own!!! Celine has always been a Vocalist who made singing look easy! Now she still sounds AMAZING but we see the IMMENSE effort it takes!!!
