I hadn't actually considered using Capacity Reservations with RIs because typically RIs are used when the VMs are running 24x7 and in such cases you're not going to have issues allocating VMs because, well, they're already running. But I can see the "why not?" aspect because it would be galling to briefly de-allocate an RI'd VM only to find you can't restart it because of a capacity issue. Good point, thanks
