I’m 66 years young and had a stroke 1 May. I have a rehabilitation challenge which is similar to yours: 30 minutes exercise daily, limit coffee to one cup, daily reading out loud for speech practice, daily handwriting practice for fine motor control, drink 64+ ounces of water, and practice mediation/mindfulness. Good luck to both of us as meet our challenges!

If you're thinking of donating to organizations, there are websites where you can check them out to make sure the money goes where you want it to. We give to several local organizations where almost 100% actually goes to their mission and not to overhead!

Other than gift cards (which are amazing and easy to hand out at a traffic light), homeless care kits are great to keep on hand. It's basically a ziplock bag full of necessities like a water bottle, single serve snacks, nail clippers, wet wipes, etc. Also socks. Socks are the number one most needed item. I put some tampons in for women. I would purchase good quality socks, but most of those things can be bought cheaply at Walmart or the dollar store.

Loved this video ! Thank you ! I am a Christian and loved hearing your idea about helping the homeless. I live in a developing country and am concerned about similar issues and being generous. I usually have some small packet of on the go snacks I can give to people who are homeless/hungry.

My church buys gift cards every month to give to people in need. I always thought that was a good idea. Glad you are going to do that for the homeless. So many people are struggling. My church also has a program. Each family that wishes to participate is linked up with a family that needs help. Some time it’s being a listening ear or preparing them a meal each week, maybe buying some clothes for their child. It is very rewarding to see the little help you give them really making a difference in their life.

Ashlynne, you are such a good role model. I whish I had your wisdom when I was your age, but I didn't. When I discovered Dave Ramsey in my mid 30s I finally started saving and paying off my debts and became way better with money and in life in general. It gives you such a head start when you have financial literacy. Love the way you and Christopher are working together to create a great and generous life.

I've been challenged about my giving/tithing recently as well. When i was praying i felt the Lord put a friend of mine on my heart and then i had the sense i wanted to provide an opportunity to rest, so i purchased a massage voucher. It will be so lovely for her to know God sees that she needs to take time for herself.

As the seasons change to colder weather, I like to have gloves, socks, and granola bars on hand for homeless individuals ♡ Q.I struggle with organization of glass, tin, paper...plastics.. recycling and returnables..so much build up even with conscious purchasing re: packaging and bi weekly/monthly city pick up/ trips to the recycling depot. How do you keep up this unsightly onslaught!

I see you heating your food on the stove. Don't you have a microwave? If not why? I heard some things about it and just want to know if it's for healthy purposes that you didn't use a microwave please.
@shelbizzle1312 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a microwave either, and reheating food on the stove or oven helps get the same “quality” or texture that it had when it was fresh. It does take a little longer tho but I find it tastes better. 🤷♀️
@jackiekramer97812 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend gift cards as they can be exchanged for cash easily… the care packages mentioned in other comments are the best way to go! We just keep a few gallon ziplocs packed and ready to go with fresh socks, fresh water, granola bars, travel toothbrush and toothpaste etc. I worked in a shelter for years and the number one requested item from people was clean dry socks and feminine products. LOVE your videos!!
@glovez13972 жыл бұрын
I’m in San Francisco and lot of businesses don’t want the homeless in their establishment so they will not take the gift cards. Many times the homeless cause problems and have been banned from stores. Just wanted to share because this happened to me before so I had to buy the items for them.

My brother judges homeless people he assumes they drink or do drugs .

Unfortunately most of them do. At least here in Germany.
@LindsayD2282 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t mean we should be heartless or unkind towards them.
@shelbizzle1312 жыл бұрын
Judging people that don’t have homes is weird, especially since it’s a systemic problem rather than an individual one. If I was on the streets and seen as subhuman, I’d probably do the same thing. Also, people that do have homes drink and do drugs so…they literally have bars and shelves for alcohol…literally the wealthiest people indulge in just that..at that point it’s just a “I’m better than those people” mindset.
@mattjohnson54892 жыл бұрын
And I don't get why people say get a job when your homeless you need a home for that to take a shower and eat and if it was me being out in the hot or cold I mentally couldn't do anything and my mind wouldn't be good so don't judge others unless your in there shoes.
