I set intention for the upcoming year, find a word of the year and that's it. I don't celebrate the New year's eve...

I find a word or a quote for the year and look at daily and try to apply it to my everyday life for 2023 my word is wellness (mental health, taking care of myself mentally, journaling)

Welcome to Ottawa! ❤ As far as traditions for the new year, my dad always writes a letter to the family highlighting the past year and his hopes and blessings for each one of us in the year to come. When my siblings and I were younger he would read it out to us and then we would open our stockings (it’s a Catholic French Canadian tradition to open them on the 1st to celebrate the feast of the Solemnity of Mary). Now we get the letter by email as we often can’t all be together on this day. It’s a tradition I really treasure. I’m in the same boat of starting all new routines this January as a lot of life events have changed. I’m actually excited to build them from scratch ✨

I cannot wait to follow along with your videos in January! And OMG, what you said about toxic positivity! 🙌🏻 There's someone in my life who REFUSES to complain about anything, and if I bring up anything negative, she immediately goes into this Mary Sunshine routine. The best example I have: There was a wildfire near where we live in 2022, and her response to the news was, "Maybe it'll clear out that beetle infestation that's killing the trees!" 😑 (Spoiler alert: That did not happen.) I'm a cheerful/peppy person by nature, but I don't think it's healthy at all to basically refuse to let yourself feel any non-joyous emotion. And it makes you appear so inauthentic!

YAY - and oh man, that sounds exhausting and so frustrating!! I have been there and I agree, not healthy at all. there's a big difference between maintaining optimism/focusing on the good and repressing the negative that is just part of the world we live in!

One of my goals for 2022 was to start a youtube channel and I didn't do that. It's been a dream of mine for a long time. I'm embarrassed to even talk about it. I know that I owe it to myself to try. I'll regret it if I don't.

I can only speak from my experience - but I wanted to do youtube for a long time before I started, and while it’s certainly not an “easy” commitment - if you love it, it’s SO much fun. I’m cheering for you this year if you start - it’s definitely scary but so worth it

It’s definitely an adjustment!! I grew up in Northern BC, so i’m used to more snow/colder weather, but my wardrobe and skincare definitely need to be more prepared
