Lisa - My understanding is the that number has encoded in information about how the sensor responds. That way they can correct for the response of the sensor, and give you a reading without needing a calibration. If you put in a number that doesn't go with your sensor, who knows what results you will get. I would either take a picture with your phone, or write it down somewhere.

@@dianejackson4881 xDrip+ is an opensource app that replaces the Dexcom app on your phone. Use of it enables the user to see a far more useful CGM graph, it restarts your transmitter at 90 days enabling you to use the transmitter until the battery is actually dead. Right now I have used my current transmitter 191 days. It auto or preemptively restarts your sensor sessions (G6) at day 9 and enables you to use a sensor as long as you can keep it stuck to you with NO restart delays such as you would have if you used traditional hacks to restart with Dexcom. Dexcom has figured this out, it doesn't work anymore since their last app updates. Someone needs to find a new way to restart, maybe longer waits or a whole different procedure. There are only a few different codes and some are even finding if their new sensor has the same code they are completely unable to start that new sensor. So for good or bad, dexcom has changed something.

TSCoupe // well, Dang! I’m about 4 days away from a restart & that may be when I run into this. 😌

@@NeilGreathouse Thanks for the great video! Did you have any luck with your restart? My daughter just got the Dexcom a few days ago, so we haven't had to change yet.

@@NeilGreathouse Oh good! My daughter's first sensor expired on Monday night and we got the reset to work too. Her numbers were a bit crazy yesterday, but they seem to be accurate now. Thanks again for the great video, it was super helpful.

It doesn't work for me either. I truly wished it did because it is sooooo expensive!

Dexcom MIGHT have put a stop to jury-rigging a re-start. Love the video, but I tried this technique and got this message: No re-starts! No alerts, etc...until single-use sensor is replaced.

yup, I just received that message too. I did get that once before when I was using both my phone and my Dexcom G6 receiver and finally got it restarted; no luck so far this time. I'm sure they knew about this; the hack is posted in about in at least 10 places, and it would have been easy to fix the app on a phone. So I'm going to restart using my receiver and see if that helps.

You’re right - they stopped allowing the restarts. Working on an alternative solution.
