Today I got my first cowboy hat ever off my buddy but it was pretty dirty and abused, right when i got home i cleaned off the dust and grime the best I could but I couldn’t get over the fact that the hat looked like it had been used as a welcome mat, this video helped me fix the shape a lot, but I can tell that I’ve still got a lot to learn.

Thank you for this video. I'm now just getting into wearing a cowboy hat. I've always wanted to and I'm at that age now where I don't care what people think...lol... But i was worried about how to care for and keep my investment in a good workout hat in good condition. This video helped a ton...

Great job! I have an inexpensive wool felt cowboy hat that came with a cattleman crease I wasn’t too crazy about. Since I didn’t have a steam iron, I did it the old-fashioned way and ran hot tap water over the crown and inside of it. I even filled it up. I was able to push the old crease out and reformat much the same way you have done here. I was able to reshape the brim using hot water the same way. After I was satisfied with the way it looked, I propped it up and let it dry overnight. I could never get the hat stiffener to do much of anything by just spraying it on, so I poured some in a bowl and used a paintbrush and saturated the whole hat. When it dried it turned out awesome. Stiffened the whole hat up, much like an expensive beaver felt hat. Next time, I’m going to try your steam iron and soccer ball trick! (rxcept, I will probably have to use a basketball for my head size! Lol!) thanks for the great video!

not bad for hand form....fur felt is compacted fibers using conditioner on it breaks the compacting bonds. if it is a good hat maybe no problem I did that with a cheapy hat the fur felt came apart. just an observation! wrinkles are the first sign the bonding is breaking on the fiber bunch... oh well! still good job use good plastic wrap put it in the hat damp a towel, a cheapy thin one, spray glue on the plastic wrap side. stick it in the hat let dry...when you like the form cover the hat edges spray the glue on the inside let it dry. hat form... take it out when do spray the hell out of the form until you can drive a truck over it. HAT FORM ,...put in a full size box so the hat is in a closed bax!! good to go partner, texas method

If you do this often or have a large collection you should invest in a Clothes Steamer they have bigger reservoirs for the water and allow you to get into tighter spaces with the wand on a hose They are reasonably priced on sale usually under $100.00 And Ive seen off brands online for less money I imagine will work fine as those are usually Chinese Clones Stetson brand hats allow you to steam and reshape many times due to the blend of Furs they use to make the Wool ive even steamed hats over a boiling pot of water on the stove
