Residents get paid . Not as much as they should but it is enough to survive in NYC, especially if she attended Medical School at a cheap school. Texas has some of the cheapest Medical schools for example, around $10-$30k/yr which can be easily covered by financial aid. And with financial aid you can defer payments with little to no interest until you’re making real money. Then it’s pretty easy to pay off after becoming an attending

I was wondering the same! We're given fresh scrubs and white coats every single day (I'm a med student in Germany) and we're not allowed to bring in our own. Especially coming to or leaving work/class in our hospital attire equals the eighth deadly sin (and it seems kind of obvious to me why).

In Canada it's the same as USA (buy your own uniforms and take them home to wash). In Asia, work provides scrubs and do laundry for staff. I don't know why it's different in North America

Hope you enjoy your anaesthesia block. As an anaesthetic nurse I will be looking forward to the coming videos. But I’m confused (I’m from Australia) as to why are you doing an anaesthesia block when I thought you got matched into emergency medicine.

We do a month of anesthesia rotation during our first year of emergency medicine residency to get more experience with intubations! Every residency program is different in terms of off-service rotations (meaning rotations outside of emergency medicine) but anesthesia is a pretty standard one!
