Is it just me or does James Marcus unwillingly transform into Queen Leechs first form?

Nope, that's exactly what happened. Marcus became so angry and passionate in that moment that the queen leech started to get riled up too, so it ended up taking over without him having expected it. He was especially caught off-guard because he most likely didn't realize the queen could even do that, since he was confident that he was the one in control the entire time.

nope wrong..Marcus is dead. This is the Queen Leech who just transformed. She fed on Marcus genetic material and supposedly his brain and memories so this being became "Quasi"Marcus and set the things in Resident Evil in motion.

The part of the flashback when his body was shown was from the perspective of the leech, where it’s clearly shown to have entered his body upon noticing him. It did not attempt to eat him, nor would it make sense that it spent ten years eating his corpse only to one day decide that it actually was him and was going to get revenge. Marcus, or the queen leech as some see it, clearly remembered this portion of the flashback where the queen entered his body. Why would the queen leech remember this yet believe that it truly is him while knowing so vividly what actually happened? It should know very well that it simply started mimicking him, if that were the case. Furthermore, it stands to reason that the queen leech would never actually attempt to feed on Marcus given how much it cared for him. The queen, and all of the leeches, were said to harbor a genuine affection for Marcus. This was the reason he could experiment on it without harm in addition to why the queen specifically chose to leap from the table and follow him after his death, no doubt having hid inside of his clothes to evade detection. Naturally, it must have fallen away from him after they were dumped in the treatment plant, but once it found him it went inside of him and began the process of merging their DNA over that lengthy time period. This is just as the scene showed, the unique healing properties of the leech in combination with the T-virus were able to halt the decay of his dying functions and they instead began to recover. This would mean that his brain almost certainly resumed functioning, as well, which is why his memories and personality were still intact. Marcus’ body was definitely still a part of this assimilation. The queen remained inside of it and only altered his internal structures over those ten years so that it could change his form freely, in which it obviously chose to take on the appearance of his younger self. But given that so many of his genes and his own body were still here, it doesn’t make sense to assume the leech just became more intelligent and eventually decided it was him. There was no reason for the leech to become more intelligent from this transformation, it had nothing to do with his brain other than halting its complete death. But regardless, both the bodies of Marcus and the queen were certainly a part of the final product, and the thing that makes the most sense is that Marcus’ own mind was a part of it as well. Certainly, the man we see in the game was confident that he was, in fact, Marcus. There's really no reason the queen would believe that unless it was true to some extent. Anyway, a leech can’t spend ten years eating a body. Even if bioweapons still do get hungry, one body was never going to last that long, so the queen clearly could survive without sustenance and had no actual need to feed on him. Besides, his leeches only drank blood, and he surely couldn't have had all that much left after the assassination. It makes sense that the queen didn’t even bother to waste its time, although it almost certainly wouldn’t have even if it could have.

It believed itself to be Marcus himself, reborn by divine intervention. Over the next ten years, the Leech developed the ability to change its body shape into that of Marcus' . Believing himself to be Marcus reborn, the Queen Leech transforms itself with the physical body of Marcus in his early 20’s and learned to control and manipulate the leeches, thinking of them as his children. this too...
