There's something about this game, in its original state, that will never be replaced by any remakes, although I love those too. It's so weird the fact that it is a horror game but feels like home to me. The most awesome feelings one could ever have: nostalgia, the coming of age, the friendships I had back then who shared the experience of being scared, the excitement, the mystery. Resident Evil will always be a door to the past for me, cause although everything changed, these games are still there. 💖

@@alphastar2934 Thanks. I've been using that name and profile picture since the early days of KZbin. Battle Angel Alita fans seem to be more common than one would expect. I mean, no one ever talks about the series itself, but I frequently get comments like yours. It's strange. Alita seems to be well-known and kinda obscure at the same time.
@alphastar2934 Жыл бұрын
@@D-Nova In my opinion, this manga is not for everyone. It's hard, thrash, sad, ugly and beautiful, elaborate, poetic and powerful at the same time. The most evil characters are still human after all, some good characters suddenly appear to behave like jerks, it really was gut-wrenching and... not so far of a reality we tend to hide. At the opposite of the good Hollywood movie you see everyday. And as many people like sad songs, I love this serie despite many would find it depressive. Like many others I guess. That's why I feel like Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm is an obscure manga, because it's not the manga you would recommend and speak about to everyone. But those who read all the books usually loved it and will never forget it. In my case, I saw the 2 OAVs when I was 8 (I was too young, I shit my pants) and rediscovered the series as a teenager with the books. It really had a deep impact on me. This manga has still a strong fanbase, unfortunately I'm not sure if it will continue for decades though.

I'll never forget the first time ever playing a resident evil game. I was in the 8th grade and my buddy that lived down the street from me asked me if I wanted to stop at his house after school this one day we always walked home from school every day. We get to his house and he says hey I got a new game for you to play. He pulled it out and it was Resident Evil 2 double disc. We played it for like 30 minutes and his dad came home from work and so I had to go home because they where about to leave but my friend let me barrow Claire's disc to go home and play. I played it for a couple hours and instantly fell in love. I was so in love that I stopped playing it halfway through because I had to go out and get the first one and I beat it before continuing on re2. I remember when resident evil nemesis came out. I went to blockbuster the day it came out because I couldn't afford to buy it at the time. I've played every resident evil mainline title except 5 and 6. I felt that resident evil was losing it's roots when 5 came out in my opinion. I love that dark slow spooky scary resident evil not no action packed game. I'm so glad they went back to their roots by re7. Re7 is in my top 3 resident evil title's I love that first person horror aspect it works great with resident evil. I love the old school fixed camera angles too I love them both.

You know what made survival horror so good? And why Chris' game is so much scarier than Jills? The combination of ammo, health and inventory management. Having to manage those three ridiculous resources made it so nerve wracking to play the fucking game!

H Baker I think so. It's really quite similar, so it feels nostalgic--like you're playing the same game you played 15 years ago...but there's a ton of new content. The mansion layout is quite different, with several new areas and a new boss, as well as a few more weapons. Every single puzzle is completely different as well. The game feels very fresh. I'd highly recommend it. I only wish they'd left in the cheesy voice acting...but they re-recorded many of the same lines.

Resident Evil 1 was like no other RE game. It was a quiet mysterious game full of atmosphere. RE2 and onward it became action and lots of noise. I miss the quiet gloomy atmosphere of the old games. The mansion was just better than Racoon City.
@jedite75036 жыл бұрын
Yep after RE1, it became more action-based and lost a lot its atomsphere and tension. Replaying RE1 gives you a sense of dread and isolation, where you need think how to survive the mansion rather than COD'ing your way through the game.
@DevineInnovations6 жыл бұрын
RE 1 is my favorite by far. I don't know why the sequels could never really capture the feel of the first. I loved RE4 when it first came out, but when I played it a few years later I could barely finish it. I didn't bother with 5 and 6. I might end up playing 7 eventually, but it just looks like an Outlast ripoff, and I didn't even like Outlast.

March 3rd, 1997...I had rented this game on a whim for my birthday, was only six years old, and it was an experience I will NEVER forget. Haven't played games in so long...but I hear that this is available for the PS3 as a digital download, as are 2 and 3. Will definitely be clearing up my schedule this weekend to delve back into my childhood. In my opinion, this version is far more stellar than the remake...and harder, too!

The atmosphere these pieces of music created throughout these games, especially during lengthy periods without dialogue (and including, the dialogue is hilariously bad), is exceptional. Even better looking back too.

i love this OST, its so grim and eerie, makes the first game stand out from the rest of the franchise. 2 and 3 are fucking awesome tho
@Sextus709 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Carmine The only flawed thing of the first game was its bad dialogue script and voice acting (very funny nonetheless). IMO the series was excellent until RE 4, which although not a bad game, missed the original spirit of the series. The following games just made things worse.
@Manfurias9 жыл бұрын
Sextus70 Although RE4 deviated a lot from the series, i had more fun playing it than i did with Code Veronica. Both games had lousy dialogue and voice acting, but imo CV was ma downgrade from RE3, you couldn't even go through the stairs freely anymore and those controls felt sluggish. RE4 should've just been it's own separate franchise, they probably just put Leon and called it Resident Evil to boost the sales, imo
@Sextus709 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Carmine I haven't played Code Veronica, so I can't say anything about it, but I agree about Resident Evil 4 being a fun and decent game. I also think that it should've been better if they made it as a separate franchise, however I don't think that it would've gotten so many sales (sometimes new games, no matter how good or bad they are, can be either a great commercial success or an utter failure).
@விஷ்ணு_கார்த்திக்9 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Carmine That's cus CV's development was parallel to RE3's development.. CV uses RE2 as a template to make its own game and RE3 does the same with "Different" results.

5:28 always makes me laugh because it's such a tense and dramatic song cued by such a simple and positive thing: solving a rather easy puzzle. It's the kind of song you'd expect to hear after a shocking reveal; not after flipping a few switches. The clash between those two elements is just ridiculous.

I remember playing this on PS1 way back and some of the tracks really sent shivers up my spine. This was one of them. It's simple, yet it instills a sense of dread. Especially when it starts playing before the terrace scene fully loaded. You didn't know what waited on the other side, but you knew it wasn't good. A classic horror game. Love it.

Wondering if it's because it brings me back to playing this game and I was SO focused on doing everything in it, not leaving a door unopened, a task incomplete. Anyways, just my thought.

I love the remastered edition of this game.. but somehow this seems to be much more terrifying. I'll have to revisit it to confirm my doubt, but that part at 1:35 is chill inducing and It tells you everything you need to know about the difference between this and REmake. In REmake, the mansion is much more grey and dilapidated, as opposed to feeling lived in and being ominous and unsettling. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is a lot of difference that is made between the games due to the soundtrack, atmosphere, and art style.
