Far superior, from what I've heard, to the RE2 Remake's soundtrack. Helped the game become an absolutely classic, along with the brilliant static camera shots - the two together really made you tense and paranoid, checking every darkened corner. Some of the scariest, most ominous pieces took place in rooms where little was happening - No More To Do Here after Claire had left the STARS office: not sure why it played there but it always made you think of all the lives lost due to a certain character's treachery and of the nightmare yet to unfold.

@@silenthillisawesome6163 a lot of folks don't realize that static camera angles were used to heighten suspense and is in partial responsible for creating the survival horror genre .for instance the camera aimed at you from down a hall at the precipice of a corner not knowing if something lurked just beyond coupled with these soundtracks and artistic details of the setting is how resident evil 1 & 2 & 3 sold so well an became classics it was more then just good looks it was more then just good controller mechanics it was more then just an upgrade to dialogue and enemy design and building design Resident Evils 1 2 and 3 were good because of static camera angles creepy sound tracks and well designed settings to bring out your fear ,the remakes did this well too but with out static camera angles it lacks some of that intensity of fear of not knowing whats behind the corner

Music and game atmosphere are indeed great in RE2 original, but you have to admit that the dialogue was still not there. Just listen to Leon how he weirdly pronounces and puts an emphasis on some words during his dialogue. It's like he wanted to sound tough and rough, but it didn't come out well. Also, it doesn't go with his character to be that tough yet.

My Claire disc was broken (would crash whenever Sherry would enter the tunnel system) so I was never able to reach a B-Scenario ending for a while, however, I got the Soundtrack, and when he said this, I seriously thought the same -- In fact I assumed it was something playful they did for the Soundtrack itself.

"Good Bye Leon" and "Mother", back to back tracks, are the prime examples of why I love this musical score and love this game -- Both contain strongly reverbed, sterile-sounding synths, making them fit flawlessly with the world of horror that they exist in, but both tracks are entirely focused on the emotional misery of those involved, and how the pain of loss is the only thing that hurts more than the fear itself. I can honestly listen to those tracks alone for hours.

They capture the atmosphere of the game perfectly I literally remember when I was a kid I was so frightened to go around corners in case william was there haha. While the soundtrack is good, its way to loud and in your face sometimes. The Remakes subtle pieces, while not thaaaat memorable, just give the situation the Claire or Leon are in credit: being isolated and alone. It plays in a few places like Chiefs Office, mainhall, Secret room etc and accompanies the game. Especially with the better graphics and enviromental sounds, a subtle more than often silent soundtrack is better for the game to create a fitting atmosphere in a horror game - especially for first time players. People that played RE2 back in 1998 ofc will miss the soundtrack kinda, but that was not the main target of the release of 2 and 3 i guess. In 1998 they needed the score for the overall experience, since the graphic was more like 32-Bit and could not really carry over the dread and destruction of Racoon City.

GOd bless the mind who thought of using this wonderful soundtrack for the remake! The composers... Masami Ueda, Shusaku Uchiyama and Syun Nishigaki, with one track composed by Naoshi Mizuta. When I first played this game as a 13-14 year old, I remember that I found it VERY scary. It was real horror for me. That was part of the reason why the game was difficult to play. When I listen now to a track such as "The First Floor," I realize that that crazy music played a big role in making the game atmosphere so horrific .
