I love that little pre-transformation boast, it's equal parts badass due to the delivery and funny because of his complete lack of self-awareness. Leon and Saddler feel like two sides of the same coin in the original. I always enjoyed that dynamic. The way he would genuinely laugh at Leon's smart-mouthed remarks made him feel quite unique as a big bad. Remake Saddler may fit the tone the game's going for, but he feels one-note as a character. They could have at least had him slip in an "Oh, Mr. Kennedy, you entertain me!" at the end as a nod to his roots.

OG Saddler always have this anti-US sentiment in him (which is based AF), and Los Illuminados in general is more of a terrorist group pretending to be a cult. Remake Saddler felt like he's an actual religious leader, and Los Iluminados finally felt like an actual cult (they have their own bible & worship plaga like as a god-like being). I'm not saying the remake is necessary better than the OG since both are just two different interpretations, but for me the OG Saddler always had his own charm, and his anti-US sentiment weirdly fits well with the current world condition during that time (US war on terror, Iraq War, Bush re-election, etc). I love the remake, but the classic RE4 always hold a special place in me. A vibe that'll never be able to replicate.

Problem of the remake was that it portrayed them as parasite worshippers on a whole new level. Not that they weren't but this gave off the idea that Saddler is just a thug who manipulated people for his own gain while the remake makes him look like some psychotic religious fanatic which is extremely boring in a plot like this.

Saddler was never a very well rounded character. You know literally nothing about him in the OG game - his origin, how he created the Los Illuminados, why he is so obsessed with Las Plagas - but he worked due to Michael Gough's amazingly charismatic performance that made him fun to watch. I just thought it was so underwhelming and I was let down by how easy it was. He just turns into some crab looking thing and doesn’t have a second phase or anything and just dies from a rocket launcher at the end. At least Salazar had more of an excuse with his boss fight. Saddler just felt weak.

I mean when you can brainwash people into following you blindly, you don't have to care about charisma. Not to mention, the new Saddler seems like an absolute believer of the Plaga. Even though the two are one and the same (even physically), he still refers to the Plaga parasite as his Lord. He acts more as a cult leader and a true believer that he's doing the world a service by spreading the Plaga to the world. He even takes offense that some people show resistance or don't want that "gift". Meanwhile the OG Saddler, although charismatic and somewhat playful, seems to USE the Plaga. It's all a façade. And he seems to have a particular beef with the Americans. However, he is like the other kind of cult leader: the one that uses his followers to get what they want. Donations, believers, fame... Let’s be honest. Lord Saddler was way more entertaining here and charismatic than he was in the remake. Man they really did Saddler dirty making him just some generic evil bad guy in the remake of this game. The reason why I loved Saddler so much in the original is because his dialogue was better written and I loved that he was more smug and entertaining pissed off Leon more. I just think the fact the OG RE4 was campy made it charming in a unique way that felt fitting for the tone of the game. Saddler had more personality and had more energy and fun as a character in the OG Vs. The Remake which just made him do nothing and was a boring character. To me, this video shows sometimes you just can never beat a classic. I love OG Saddler. The remake isn’t a bad game but it’s definitely worse than the original overall. Old RE4 is a classic game and I couldn’t say that enough.

I think they couldve done even more with it, because the original also had Saddler controlling them to an extent, but the visions foreshadowing Krauser was cool, Saddler's first appearances being in them was more foreboding, and the surreal section near the end I liked. Personality wise, I liked that he felt more like a terrorist targeting the US who used his cult as a weapon, but also had a soft spot for Leon's quips and banter. The new one is a lot more one-note, from that perspective.

If this Ashley was killed in the plot, it would not have influenced the further plot, the plan Saddler would not have worked. in general, it is not necessary to use this special rocket launcher one against the last boss, this does not in any way affect the further plot, and special rocket launcher was not needed at all. OG Saddler is the G.O.A.T Nothing can beat the original. I do love the remake, I have a lot of fun with it and can look past the changes and enjoy the gameplay. However, with the Dead Rising "Remaster" coming out in a month and seeing all the changes they made to certain characters to make it less "offensive" Capcom is trying its hardest to play it safe, even if it means altering an already perfect storyline with excellent dialog. Stop Capcom, Remake a game, add new features. Don't take stuff out and change characters entirely.

I didn’t know Michael is the voice of many Nord characters in Skyrim and the original Osmund Saddler and Gopher in Winnie the Pooh and the scarecrow in Tom & Jerry and the Wizard of Oz and Gnasty Gnorc in Spyro. Although he did voice Gnasty Gnorc again in the remake and in Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled, It was really sad that he didn’t return to voice Osmund again in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
