Tbh i think the skit where the merchant was putting on lipstick and wearing a tiara should have been the good bye horses scene from Silence of the Lambs and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Oh god,i think that game would be the hardest to remake without changing its DNA. :D but i would laugh it there would be no QTE or prompt but if you actually melee attack a boulder that happens to be there, the original ending occurs... that would be neat. For those who know. :) I hope that they would keep it more grounded but i don't believe that. 5 and 6 were the big disappointments for most. So Capcom would be smarter to try remaking outbreak first. Or dino crisis. But they have not the best reputation when it comes to multiplayer resi ;)

I still remember being 7-8 years old watching my cousins (who were in high school at the time) play this game at 2 am and all of us screaming when we heard the chainsaw crank up. Some of my favorite memories with them. Now I’m 25 and when I boot up the remake. All fun memories of being a kid comes back to me. It’s so special how art can make us feel this way in life. When the first one came out I was in elementary school and one of my friends invited me and others at her house, to try it. I remember we(5-6 kids) all sat on her bed to watch her play, and we were scared AF. I remember having chills and being extra-anxious at the initial scenes, while my friend was all like "Leon is sooo pretty🥺", we were so scared she had to stop playing lmao Happy to report that I was able to play past the first chapter of the remake😂

That’s some of my early memories of RE4 as a kid too! Watching my older cousin play and beat it on his PS2, as all of us boys were watching him. The end fight and jet ski section had been imprinted in my brain ever since. One of the coolest games I had seen at the time and it felt like going in a full circle, when I played this remake on release.

Ashley wasnt even annoying in this game, the fact she doesnt have a healthbar is so good, she can essentially take any attack from anything once before dying and the enemy usually just pick her up letting you stab them in the back, in the original it was much more annoying

Escorting wise, the original Ashley was much better (never got her grabbed or killed once in my 40 finishes of older RE4), remake Ashley runs around like a headless chicken and gets grabbed quite a lot. Character wise, no question remake Ashley is much better, since they had a blue print to improve upon , while original RE4's story was written in just 2 weeks.

Ashley wasn't bad this time. The only time I had issues with her AI was in that catapult stage. She would inevitably get hit, and then you need to revive her before she gets hit again, or it'll kill her. The only issue is that, by the time you revive her, another catapult is hitting both of you

Yeah, they really nailed the economy versus the original. If you were real good, you could just stack up ammo because there was way more ammo drops and buy an RPG and one shot bosses with it, bypassing bosses. Not so much in the remake.

Kind of hilarious how Joe had such a bad time with Ashley. 😂 She was well behaved even during my hardcore run of the game. The trick is to tell her to spread out when enemies are in front of you and not flanking you. You tell her to keep close when you’re fleeing enemies or running and gunning. Hell, I kill enemies too fast for Ashley to get in my way most of the time. Aim for legs to stagger them instead of headshots. This opens up melees much sooner.

I hardly ever had any problems with Ashley I the game. I actually found myself growing attached to her character as the game went on.

She only died in combat twice on my first play through-once when I accidentally shot her while she was getting kidnapped and once to an enemy hitting my grenade in midair with an axe right after I threw it (catching her in the blast radius). I couldn’t even be mad at the second one-it was just so random and ridiculous that I was stunned. She died a lot less when I set her to follow loosely most of the time.

I loved Ashley this remake. They did a great job revamping her like everyone else. I've done 2 harcore play throughs, and I've only had her die several times to freak accidents or my poor aim. I see in a lot of the videos posted of her dying is when the player was out of position. Your 1 job is protect her. That means you stay between her and the enemies. So many of them just have her between the enemies.

My main issue is the lack of screen time for two villains in particular. The back and forth you have on the intercom with them builds their characters and that's pretty much loss making the boss fights against them less climatic. Also what was wrong with Ashley having the hots for Leon... I mean, it's not like we do... *ahem*

I think the main issue i had with it is that the damsel in distress falling for the handsome hero is such an overused trope. The only difference is that Leon didn't bite. I'm glad they got rid of it cuz it really didn't need to be there

I love the formation addition, also all the unlockables keep you coming back. The cosmetics as well are amazing, easy 10/10 for me, put 100 hours into it.

All the jokes of Ashley being in the way aside, I was actually pretty impressed with how Leon would yell things like “Ashley get down!” When she was in my crosshairs with enemies behind her. I got a very strong The Last of Us vibe. Seems like they took notes about how to make you like an escort character lol. The banter back and fourth and her cheering you on in the shooting range.

Verdugo was my favorite in the OG game and it’s still my favorite this time around. I love monsters that are cunning and can strategize, it feels like a battle of wits and Leon’s banter reflects that. Plus the monster design is IMO one of the best in the whole series.

So at least in the original RE4 it's assumed that the Merchant is infected with the same dominant Las Plagas that Mendez is infected with. That particular one takes the desires of it's host. Mendez had the desire to be a loyal servant to Saddler so his plagas took that desire as it's own. The Merchant wanted to be an independent but neutral arms dealer so the plagas took that desire as it's own as well. It's also assumed that he's the one supplying the militia too. Though in the remake I'm unsure as it seems like his eyes are normal and he has a "Guild" of some sorts since he mentions his "lads" setting up networks. It would appear though that he is still supplying Saddlers militia though so they have some agreement. Immunity for flow of supplies.

Not only does Angry Joe (always) reek of SKILL ISSUE, but even original Ashley was also super easy to control. She was way more competent when telling her to get behind you and had places to hide when an encounter was overwhelming like the original Bella Sisters.

This game is so damn good that I'm on my third playthrough with the intention of maxing out every weapon and unlocking as much as I can. 10/10 for me, even if you're new to the Resident Evil series I highly recommend getting this one.

With this game I replayed it only two weeks after beating it, which is very unlike me. It's an absolutely stellar game.

Ada's Voice Actress was the worst thing about this remake. Her delivery was so bad, and it doesn't help that she's the same actress that plays Ada in that god awful "Welcome to Racoon City" Movie...They should've just kept the same VA from the RE2 remake, which did a great job.

Exactly, plus In the original, Ashley will be captured or damaged way more. Now it feels like Ashley is more capable of getting out of the way. I bought RE4 last week for $60 (kudos to Capcom for the $10 price reduction in the world of $70 games), and I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed! From the weapon upgrade system, combat mechanics (the parry & durability system with the knife was a nice addition, especially when Leon runs out of bullets, he must resort to wielding the combat knife) & the zombie enemy variations with their strategic swarming capabilities (I found the zombies AI to be challenging at times, which is what a survival horror player should want). Of course the boss fights never cease to entertain me & the level design was on point. My only gripe about this game is the tank-like movement from Leon. He moves very slowly, which can be frustrating when fleeing from hordes of zombies or when trying to dodge/evade. He moves in a clunky manner. Other than that this game is outstanding.

My case is always organized with sidearms in top left ammo to the right of the gun knives and grenades below sidearms. Lower left is shotgun with the rifle above. Top right health and bottom right gunpowder with small R above than large R above that. I cant help but organize my case that specific way.

I'm just glad that more players and my friends I know use the red 9. A fully upgraded red 9 is beast. Sure it's a bit of a hassle getting the stock part but totally worth it. I'm also happy that the same gun patterns are the same one every uses. Red 9, stingray rifle, riot shotgun. It would hurt when ever i saw gamers walkthroughs and they pass on it in the ps2 and ps4 ports.
