As someone who adores the Resident Evil series, and finds something to love in each entry, I really did feel like RE4 Remake let me down in a major way, despite exceeding my expectations in every other way. It's like, when you see a movie that reminds you of someone you don't like, but you're tasked with giving an opinion on it afterwards, and find it weird to really hate the thing because of how specifically personally your issue is with it. Like, this a me issue. But it doesn't change the fact that within my own specific lens, I still hate you Eric. You ruined this franchise for me. Jerk.

The only thing, I like about the remake gems is that you can arrange them in such a way, that you can put 2 colours to the side and a different color in the middle. In the old game, it look visually displeasing, that 3 diffrent colors had to be next to each other. Other than that, the gems look fake as hell in the remake 🥵

Agreed! Adore this feature to death, and before I knew we were limited to pallet swaps of the same one gem, I legitimately had a heart attack at how much I loved this feature. Good idea, hope they keep it in a possible RE5 remake :) Thanks for the comment!

Unbelievable work in this video! Could you do a topic on Leon's redemption arc and immense character growth? He said "this time it has to be different" Leon never really lost anyone in RE2 since he just arrived and had to survive an already messed up town. Ada never really died as he somehow knew she lived and he finally stopped simping for her like a good modern day giga chad so no loss there. He probably just feels survivor's guilt and during 6 years of his mission, he really never got to save anyone including Javier. Spain is where he goes in wanting to get something out of it other than kill counts and surviving.

Never expected to see a video dedicated a niche little detail such as the entire gem system and prgressipn for RE4. Their solid color is very lacking compared to actual gemstones translucency to show the complexity inside. It is understandable for company and team wise for it to be not at the top of the list of concerns especially with the mountain of work they had to do, but still a little disappointment nonetheless.

This video was funny and accurate! They could’ve given the gems the beautiful gleam they used to have! I was ALWAYS stressing which would be the best gems to get the maximum payout when placing them in trinkets. Also, am I the only one who is sad that the merchant doesn’t sound as happy to sell me things that he did in the past? I feel like they reserved on his voice acting 😢

I like how the treasures work in the remake much more, making your own combinations with different gems to increase price by using rarer gems or saving rarer games for potentially better treasures in exchange for less money in the moment. Excellent use of decision making, super surprising it took this long for RE to do this. I don't mind the way the gems look all that much, BUT what I do miss is all those OG gems that are completely missing like the Novistador eyes, the Elegant gems, the Cat's eyes etc. Wish they could still be standalone treasures at least

I think that’s definitely the thing, you know? Like, I appreciate and prefer being able to put the gems however I want, and the fact that some combos of them can amplify the treasure value, meaning holding onto treasures for ideal combinations is best for wealth growth, I do seriously want my cats eyes and other treasures back too. I think this feature, but allowing for more variety and expansion of gem types would be insane! Thanks for the comment btw ^^

I totally agree on the gems being one part that makes RE4 special, the loot incetivices one to actually kill the enemies, and become good at it to not run out of ressources during it. ' Sure i could spend 5 minutes running away from Verdugo, getting that "true" survival horror eperience, but thats boring. That thing can be killed, and there will be loot. It's also a skill in item managment to be able to properly spend those ressources and not having to run from everything. Neutered and cut down sadly is a valid description of some aspects the remake.

got this video in my recommended today, been a huge fan of Resident Evil 4 practically my whole life (i was 5 when it came out, it’s literally my #1 favorite game), and while i absolutely love the remake almost as much as the OG, i too was pretty disappointed with the treasure system! this is literally the first time i’ve ever seen it articulated for reasons similar to mine. and to find out this is your first video is pretty crazy too. i subscribed before i even finished it. looking forward to more great content!

Agreed. %100. Back in re4 05’ I found the rubies and the emeralds to be my favorites and the crown was my favorite buildable treasure. When I first saw the remake ruby followed by the emerald it definitely threw me. They went for realistic cut stones not giant Mr freeze size diamonds which is what I preferred. Still a great re make

Yeah exactly! I feel like without the ability to do perfectly done lighting and graphical realism, they had to use art to sorta make those rubys and emeralds pop off the screen! And while realistic lighting and design, with advanced tech, made basically everything look absolutely amazing, the gems felt like they lacked a real sense of luster and richness! I also remember loving the look of that big red gem, or the pile of gold bars you can get, always love gold things in games, hell I remember In fallout New vegas I'd steal those gold bar's in the dead money DLC and slowly sneak off with them!

@@GamerGuy1417 Nah that doesn't bother me but the atmosphere you got it all wrong, the atmosphere felt great. There is a lot of things the Remake has that bothers but it's way to much to list. The same things I didn't like the Original too. Sometimes I wish they just fuse both things I love about the two games and remove the things I didn't like. Sadly that's not realistic. Still I wish they updated the Shooting of RE 4 Remake. The shooting has so much inconsistencies.
