I'm guess I'm old school, I'm sure the 4K is amazing but the 3D Blu-Ray versions is the only way to experience these movies in all their glory as they were meant to be seen! Good review!

@Films At Home Love the content man, I just subscribed earlier today. Thanks for doing coverage of physical media, it seems most people have moved on to streaming now. Physical media is always my preferred way to go. I think it’s interesting that Sony are doing those “PS5 4K Movie Essentials” tags on certain movies when the console itself doesn’t support Dolby Vision (neither does the new Xbox, only HDR10). Maybe they’ll include a firmware update in the future to add the support for it.

thats really weird? i know for a fact the xbox one X has Dolby vision support I just don't have a compatible TV. seems weird that they would essentially downgrade like that.

It does support the format. It just supports it on streaming services, not on physical media unfortunately.

Yeah I hate the ones that slide out most of the time because the disk tends to stick then I have to touch the side I don't want to damage to get it to slide out I bought slip sleeves for my cases like that just to prevent such damage but I shouldn't have to do that....lol

4K is a half-baked format as long as it doesn't support 3D. Sony has also authored these discs to have a forced pop-up menu appear at the end credits, which is ENTIRELY unacceptable. I have bought my last disc from them.

The Final Chapter isn’t too weird because it’s a new release, but I don’t know what’s up with Afterlife. Why did they release the fourth movie but not the first three? In Canada, the first movie got released in a triple pack with Monster Hunter and The Fifth Element.

Sony wants to market 4k discs but dosen't want to support Dolby Vision or Atmos on PS5, despite actually doing those formats well on movies, and selling speakers, soundbars, tvs that can handle those formats. Logic?

Its put me off buying a PS5, I would have liked Atmos audio that works with my speakers. I will wait a while and see how things turn out with the console. Im not sure how their own proprietary 3D sound is going to work without extensive support from the AV equipment manufacturers. If its a different format to DTS:X or Atmos how will the AV recievers and soundbars decode it?

I think they should have both. If this cheap cardboard comes with a cheaper price, I would not mind. If you are a collector and want a premium steelbook collection, you should. I am not in love with all the chapters; so, I want just have the movies without premium price.

Six 4k movies in a matching box set for 70 bucks This is a great deal. It should be pointed out that they are using this to pimp physical media in a bid way. With the new consoles coming out a lot of people are going to have to buy new TVs to take full advantage of their new systems. They are also going to want to take advantage of that new 4k player. This generation of consoles might bring back physical media at least a little bit.

I do however hate that After and The Final Chapter use the Red Umbrella Logo, I've seen other art work were they used a better image of Alice and the Umbrella logo was Green. I’m satisfied with this collection. I preordered my set. When I found out the news this was a must! Because Sony only released Afterlife and The Final Chapter as the only 4K. I’m so glad I waited because I was going to buy the collection set on digital because I saw that some of them were getting a 4K transfer but this was just perfect.

Exactly the right movie at exactly the right time. The music and atmosphere, the sets and costume design, the special effects, the cast. Everything lined up perfectly for a young shaggy. That kid was a gothy nerd with love for video-games, horror, industrial music and Mila Jovovich. This movie managed to check all the boxes. Watching it now, it still pretty much holds up. Maybe a little cheesy but stylish and entertaining. 6 stars for watchability, one for nostalgia. 4kmovies co

Only the first film got a 4K rescan. The sequels are all upscaled. "The Final Chapter" is native 4K as well.

I got the PS5 half because it's 4k player, but was super disappointed to discover it doesn't support Dolby Vision. Dolby Atmos is also not readily findable either and has to be enabled through a series of settings, some of which are kind of hidden.

Hoping that Sony will eventually reissue the films in 4K individually for people that missed out on this set as it’s kinda hard to find now. I’m not a huge fan of the packaging for the films, the top disc holder in the Final Chapter case snapped when I took out the 4K disc. They could have just used standard Blu-ray cases instead; also not a huge fan of the new artwork, I prefer the theatrical posters. but other than those nitpick things, the set was pretty good. The transfers are a huge upgrade from the standard Blu-rays, especially the second film since that one was one of the first Blu-ray’s ever put out by Sony and the transfer is kinda bad by today’s standards. The addition of the extended cut was kinda pointless but it was nice to have it as a completionist.

I have a problem with Apocalypse at 27'24" the Atmos track start to fail. Switching to the old DTS-HD format solves the problem but I bought it because of the Atmos track more than the 4k. Can you confirm howbyour disk behaves?

If you're only interested in the movies themselves, all 4K UHD blu-ray discs are region free (wasn't clear if you knew that). LOL, yeah I think I will stick with my actual 4K player. PS5, LMAO. These are a version of digipak packaging, which is actually superior to steelbook, for the record. It's easier to access the discs than even steelbooks. So yeah, lay off the brand loyalty for a second there people. Of course, this set is way overpriced for what these movies are and I won't be picking it up unless that price drops like a stone. Oh BTW, thank you for having this video in 4k, absolutely wonderful. Keep doing that.
