Whatever genre Resident Evil is, whatever rating the reviewers give, I always, always love RE. No matter if the game is bad or good. This game was very fun. I always enjoy every RE game, considering I'm a huge RE fan. And I love the RE movies too. I know almost all people who don't like RE don't like the movies either but the movies are very well. So, without further-a-do, RE is my best franchise ever. No game will ever replace it.

The PSX Resident Evils were so well paced. They understood that if you can get a player to relax, when a zombie surprises you, it's scary than constantly running from zombie hordes. They also let you absorb your environment. The settings became characters of their own, and despite leaps in technology, interaction with surroundings was greater.

I've always loved the RE games. 4 is one of my favorites of all time. I also really enjoyed 5. I never played 6 until recently. I do like to look up reviews before I play a game and they always kept me from playing it for some reason. Well. Idk why this game gets as much hate as it did/does. Resident Evil 6, the Call of Duty of Resident Evil games. Not scary at all, ammo grows on trees, Michael Bay action scenes, and a complete and utter lack of anything that'd make it a horror game. I mean look at the Simmons mutation you fight on top of a train as Leon at one point he just looks flat out laughable. I ended up not even finishing the Leon campaign and not playing the Jake or Chris campaigns. Capcom tried and failed to cater to the COD generation. Get back to the series roots, and listen to your hardcore RE fans.

Babins1 LOL at least re 6 had some originality, the enemies were far more threatening and all of them were not pull out from past resident evil games like re 5 did. re6 was a mess but at least it had some creativity to it and it gave me some fun moments through all the campaigns(not saying they were all gr8 each had at least a cool moment to remember). re 5 had the worst ai i have seen in a while, funny and unoriginal enemies, a gameplay that tried to be like re4 in a time where it feels dated. and many more fails like a almost nonexistent plot to follow...... if you preferred 5 over 6 that its fine cuz we all have differents points of view but shitting on resident evil 6 when it did not fail as hard as 5 is dumb.

If they really cared about high sales, they should ported the REmake and zero to at least ps2 and the original xbox 14 years ago instead of making them exclusive to gamecube, since the ps2 at that time was known as the console that make big sales. At that rate RE wouldn't have turned into the disaster it is these days, RE4 could've been a fully pure horror game, and so the upcoming installments after it, and they would still have made excellent sales.

Playing Re1-3 all the aspects was scary, the fear of something lurking in the corners, the opening of doors, slow stairs climb etc, playing 4-5 all changed, the nervousness all gone, don't even wanna try 6. I think is for me its the usage of fix camera where they force the player to see the horror at the perspective they want. At this technological age fix cam systems will less likely make an reappearance.

Just re-downloaded Resident Evil 4 after playing this game and I can honestly say, again, that from playing the two games, RE6 remains highly underrated for me. I love Resident Evil 4 and all, and completed the Wii version a few years back, but after playing this game on the PS3, I can say that the game has a lot of flaws. One of the biggest flaws is the controls, they're absolutely terrible when compared to modern day game controls. You can't even move when you aim lol. Not trying to take anything away from Resident Evil 4 or anything, but I think people have been WAY too harsh on RE6 as a game. I will defend this game as much as I can, because I think it has gotten a bad rap it doesn't deserve.

The inability to strafe is the beauty of RE:4 though. It makes the game more challenging and rewarding when you figure out how to pwn on it without the use of such evasive devices. It does however have the quick turn and knife attack which are extremely useful. It also means you have to have better aim and a loosely RPG style element of having to select the right gun for the job while keeping in mind ammo conservation. Meaning you definitely can't endlessly spam shotgun blasts everywhere and expect to have success. Sure these work great when you have them but such ammo is sparser than you'd think. Me I prefer the Red-9 as I'm an appreciator of fine guns and not just how fast and hard they shoot. Professional mode can be tough though but that's what restarts are for I suppose. I just find it a shame how genuinely hard it is to make it through professional without dying!

Upon reading some comments I've concluded Capcom doesn't want to make the RE games scary survivor horror again like the originals because that would alienate their new mainstream audience who likes a few scares but mainly only while having the ability to get through it with lots of gun fire support and many exploding head zombies. Get off of Capcoms dick fanboys of RE and realize that Capcom doesn't make the game for you. They make the game for money. And the original RE games were based on a vision and an idea which until its time was unprecedented and unexplored in the new graphical realm. It expanded on games like Alone in the dark and other fantasy games at the time which only touched upon such themes but didn't create them into the RE vision. When you play modern RE games you don't play RE, you play the money making machine RE has mutated into. I would love to see another RE:4 or RE:2 but is the broad buying video game market really going to be into that enough to make as much profit as just another RE:7 remake of an RE:5?

Yeah it's not like RE4 didn't inspire people to create completely different games or anything....oh wait, it doesn't matter weather you like the old RE or not RE4 is widely known as one of the best games in the past decade, the older RE games are outdated at this point no one wants Tank Controls for a third person game. Bradman Reuter You clearly didn't understand the conversation. RE4 was not an action fest and that is regarded by many as the best Resident Evil game of all time and even the best game of all time. Some action is good. No Resident Evil game has had no action. But when they turn into action fests, they become something that is not Resident Evil. Which is why 5 & 6 are regarded as two of the worst in the series by most. Revelations 2 had action, but also a really good mix of what Resident Evil used to be, thus, it was well received. 6 wasn't sure what it wanted to be.

Resident Evil has seriously hit a low, it is missing everything the originals did right. Capcom knows this, hence the re-release of the original for the next-gen consoles. Resident Evil 4 was a good game but it started the beginning of the end, the enemies weren't scary due to an ridiculous amount of ammo and the merchant, plus they were essentially humans with weapons. Not the resilient zombies which would drain your ammo in the originals. What RE4 did right though, is it maintained the atmosphere in some places, and also kept the exploring your location involved along with some (limited) puzzle solving. If they made an RE in the style of the originals but with the movement, camera and shooting system of RE4 then it would be perfect. Bring back a feeling of isolation, exploration and desperation and we may have a winner. If they can do that right and allow a partner in online co-op to explore by themselves too (or together if they please) then we'd have a winner and a remarkable return to form.

I don't know why, but to me Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 2 are the most enjoyable to me. When I was a kid, the chainsaw wielding enemies, and Regenerators in Resident Evil 4 had me taking pause breaks just to get myself together haha. Also I must say, I didn't realize holding X, or O (on the PS2) made you run. I actually played through half or so of the game just walking... Anyways, Resident 6 was fun to a extent, but I just wanted something scarier. Lets see what the company will do for Resident Evil 7. I wouldn't mind a reboot with the same characters, and classical gameplay with the use of 2014's tech.

Yeah I started with RE4 cuz of the humble bundle with capcom and definitely enjoyed it. Much so to where I wondered why RE6 wasn't seen as great. After playing half of the campaigns can see why as the game overall focuses on action more so than survival horror, but even so agree game is still fun and there were a few times I was scared, though not to the extent RE4 did to me. Plus having 4 separate campaigns is pretty nice.

RE5 wasnt bad, RE6 as well wasnt bad Leon's seem like a traditional RE Chris's i think had to much gun fighting and made me feel like gears of war, and jakes was very similer to Chris's but they did add a thing to Jake's i thought seemed fun, his secondary weapon was his fist, so it allowed you to fist fight if needed to make it feel different or if conserve ammo, Ada's never really played hers, and yes i saw on some comments having the same gameplay would get boring but have to take in account that its resident evil suppose to be a survival horror,and teh gun fighting isnt a bad idea cause people do want teh outbreak to continue but having it at every turn of a corner can get annjoying, just my opinion

I see tons of comments asking why too much action is a bad thing. If I purchase a turn based strategy game Im not expecting much action when I play it. Action is not always a good thing. Some gamers like to think about where they will be in the game 5 hours from now, instead of making split second decisions on which target to shoot next. The amount of QTEs in this game disgusted me, but they do make for damn good commercials when you are trying to sell a shitty game. RE fans are complaining because Capcom is trying to lure in COD fans with this crap, and they are ruining a franchise and their fan base in the process.

rhov rox I just don't understand why they mad such a drastic 180 from the original RE. This isn't 'new' RE persay, it is bad RE. Most of the fans that have played the old games agree, this new garbage they are making is just a bunch of fireworks and explosions with no real horror. I remember back in the last ever semi-disturbing/frightening RE game was RE4. RE5 may have been awesome but it wasn't horror. RE6 was just a sad excuse to put Leon in the story and to come up with some cheesy story that is extremely rushed. I'm not saying you have to be a conformist, but people like you that enjoy this new RE is the entire reason RE is now bad to most of the old fans. There is no sense in completely changing the core elements of a game, especially in such a drastic way in which they did RE5 and 6. Okay so after reading all these comments i find 3 types of people.. 1. Old school/true RE fans (reason why they are the true fans is because they were the ones who supported the series till capcom stabbed them in the back and gave them the middle finger when releasing RE4 (RE5 for some because they likes RE4 as well). 2. New RE games fans (aka RE4/RE5+ fans excluding RE:Revelations) those people came out of no where and are just making it harder for us true survial horror fans to convince Capcom to return RE to its roots, because right now Resident Evil isn't Resident Evil at all it's just a over the shoulder cod game with zombies, survival? no in everyroom you'll find a shit loads of ammo somewhere, if not just kill a zombie and he will shit ammo for you, SURVIVAL MY ASS! horror? no you have a co-op partner tagging along from start to finish which takes the horror element away. It had 2 separate campaigns. Having multiple campaigns was a thing since the start of the franchise, it always existed but you may just don't love it, yet you can't say it should be removed just because RE6 had it too. Seconds of all, I understand how you don't like partners especially since RE was about lonely, but I don't think that they are not part of horror, other games have this work. Besides, I said in my opinion, I in general love to have someone on the road, makes me feel I am not alone doing all that crazy thing that no other character in the game can. "Red Alert 3" made me feel like I am not the only Commander doing missions and get involved in the story for having a partner, now I now that is an RTS game and "RE" is a survival-horror, but I want to point out why I love it. Last, why you say "Go play something else"? yes RE6 is my favorite but I played and loved most of the titles like the first ones, RE1 is really scary but it is THE RE game and I really liked the story, RE2 is one of my favorite both classic and remake but I like more the classic for one single reason, I even played RE7 the title that I didn't want to play it originally. Just because I love a title that doesn't belong to the RE series or you don't like it, it does not mean you can tell me what to play.

I recently bought RE 6. And what I thought about the game? That is a great game...for who aren't a big fan of the Resident Evil games. Even I played all Resident Evil games (at least the most known ones), I'm not personally a huge fan of RE, and I prefer the action REs (like RE 4) than the horror ones. So I can say that I think Resident Evil 6 is a brilliant game, mainly because the idea of three different kinds of game in only one. But it's not a very good game, just because it's a Resident Evil game, and killed all the essence of this game series. Resident Evil 6 isn't the best game of the series because it's a Resident Evil game.

Resident Evil was always about action. Only the first game and to a lesser degree the second can be called horror. From the third game onward they ditched the 'horror' part and focused on 'survival' in the form of an action adventure with some resource management. All RE4 did was change the fixed camera to over the shoulder view and make aiming manual. 5 added sidesteps and 6 movement during aiming so they've been basically expanding the existing formula. With the addition of stealth in Revelations 2, RE7 might be something to look forward to.

kye johnson No, I am not :) Sure, the third was an action a d v e n t u r e but horror ? Nah. The fourth game was a straight up action game and that's the direction the series has been going. Spin-offs are spin-offs but even those represent the more action heavy and co-op focused resident evil. Code veronica is similar to re3 in terms of gameplay and outbreak is meant to be played as online co-op. The wii versions were rail shooters. The series has like 15 games and if two of them are horror and two more rely on adventuring as much as shooting it still means more than half of the games are action games

I think the new installments capture the panic better since in the early ones it was caused by clunky controls and absurdly handled resource management. I do believe that the firsr RE games were intented to be like the new ones but ended up like they are due to technical limitations. I wish they made the next game like Resident Evil 5 with the controls from 6, did away with cover mechanics and enemies with firearms and added an inventory/weapons/equipment system like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. along with a pseudo open world. That would be The game I would play till the end of days. Also, Re is action with horror theme, not the other way around. Kinda like Underworld movies

It's amazing how people judge the game by its "scare factor." That is not how you rate a game. You have to judge the game as a whole, including game play, story, audio (voice acting, sound effects which we all know the old RE games blew at making), graphics, etc. It's not the RE game you nostalgic fans want, but it creates sales. After RE2, money in sales was decreasing, but RE4 brought the franchise up to a new highest number in revenue and the highest rating for an RE game.

You're right that I'm not a real fanboy because I'm not the biggest RE fan, but I've played most of them. We all got opinions. Opinions, opinions opinions. In my humble opinion this game is a 8.8/10. It was very fun to the point where i spoiled it and played it too much. Recently i played the Leon campaign at it's hardest difficulty, try this and you'll start to notice the horror. As i passed by the dark train tunnels fighting the zombies and dogs i struggled to survived because life and ammo weren't always there to help. I had to be very sharp and take the game seriously. Change your difficulty to it's hardest and you will notice the horror.

Shinji Mikami's return with the evil within showed how much he valued the direction resident evil franchise took since the 4th installment. Capcom can stick to the 3rd person camera angle but still make it scary as hell if they want ( dead space duhh ). A resident evil game like the olden times wont exactly make much sense now since all the characters are highly trained soldiers ( remember the old resident evils had terrible aiming system....u literally couldn't do head shots in those lol ). But if they can fuse the until dawn camera with good aiming n all...well I won't complain. The boss fights IMO are superb....just make a compelling story to end the series and give us scares n I believe resident evil will rock.
