I actually enjoyed this movie. It was the only entry in the series that I liked. I hated how Jill took such a backseat to Alice, but I thought Sienna looked very authentic in the role and did a great job with what she was given.

side note lickers are actually blind and see through enhanced hearing so the red sight thing is bullshit and it would have been nice to see them sneaking around and distracting the lickers as they made their way to an exit before the lickers actually heard them before alice showed up in a normal way like through the main door, gets their attention and kills them in a cool way, hell id pay to see her hand to hand a freaking licker

To prepare for her role, Sienna Guillory actually bought a PlayStation 1 Console and a copy of the game to study the Jill Valentine character. She also based her movements of Jill by watching the way Jill moved in the game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). The movie uses elements of the plots of Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). The dogs were not computer-generated. That intro music brings back so many happy memories! I played that game so much, even got the legendary Tofu extra challenge game (but never got to the end with that squeaking bastard). If only the film was based on this game and not some random zombie fest bearing no resemblance whatsoever. I refuse to acknowledge these films, they are nothing to do with Resident Evil at all. These movies were essentially a fanfic turned live action movie, but the author only barely played one game and just wiki'd some characters and plot points. They're still awesome popcorn flicks. When any of them come on, I have to watch it. It's such a guilty pleasure.

Great reviews. I wish they had just made the resident evil movies and based them on the games. They could have done the mansion. It wouldn't need to be a slow paced key collecting adventure. There is plenty of horrors and scenarios that could have unfolded. You could easily have Barry, Jill, Rebecca and Chris in one movie. Neither Chris or Jill needed to be jailed. There could have been plenty of opportunity.

It turns out that alot of the writing can be blamed on Capcom. The first scripts for the first and maybe this movie were extremely close to the game stories but capcom wanted it changed because in their minds if people can just watch the exact story in a movie they won't buy and play the games. That's why most game characters are unrelated name drops or in Jill's case not allowed any of her classic game moments

There was also the underground train from Re2 videogame in Re1 movie. Plus the fight sequence with the licker in the train looked like a bit like the final fight with Birkin in the train at the end of B scenario in Re2 game. Also, thanks for this video.

Sorry but they told ya the mansion was a emergency entrance/exit to the hive.. It's not a plothole. That was the whole reason for the train, to speed away from the hive in case anything happened. And that's the whole problem with all the movies, Alice just comes in and steals the movies from the game characters, anytime a game character will do something cool/great nope it goes to Alice. Just comes down to Anderson wanted to show off his hot wife and give her the best moments.

Honestly I don't so much have a problem with them using basically RE3's plot for the second movie. It was everything else and how it was implemented that was the bullshit part. RE3 canonically takes place in the timeline before RE2 so it'd make sense for them to start out with RE3 inspiration and maybe setting up some RE2 narrative by the end. Then in the 2nd movie, they could've picked up where they left off in RE2's plotline for most of THAT movie and end by wrapping up both 2 and 3's narrative. It's what I wished happen back then, and I really, REALLY wished they would've done that for the newest Resident Evil movie...
