I played this version when I was older, but I remember playing Resident Evil 2 with my older brother when I was 11 and being unable to handle it. This was when you go to the prison cells, and there's a loud scream if anyone remembers. Bear in mind I have a bunch of older siblings, and I watched films like Nightmare on Elm Street, Aliens, and plenty of other horror films when I was 6. None of them scared me like Resident Evil.

I love the fact that, when you fight Lisa with Wesker, Lisa can punch Wesker off the cliff. If this happens, then when you get to the secret Tyrant laboratory, you find him prepping Tyrant as if nothing ever happened LOL.

Dunno about you but there were a decent amount of "adult" games on Gamecube, just a hard gem to find. I will agree that most games from other systems that you were kinda hinting are or feel pretty dumb. Like more power to people who love God of War, but the game was just meh to me. Prince of Persia wasn't bad, DMC was kinda emo and boring (cannot deny that if you look hard enough) if you ask me. Never got into Assassin's Creed but looks cool just never got around to playing the series.

This game is nearly impossible without a guide or massive amounts of trial and error, restarts, etc. So unforgiving if you use too much ammo in a situation, dont bring a proper item, constantly going back to the item box, getting lost trying to figure out clues, etc. I found it frustrating to have to run past certain zombies to save ammo, you would miss goodies if you didn't kill a certain one, etc. Loved the game for its concept and atmosphere, but hated it for entertainment. Became too stressful and annoying i had to get a guide, then the game was ruined because i had to prepare for before i even knew they existed.

I love the later titles of RE more, but 1--even being the one that started it all--will have a special place in my heart. The suspense, the dread, the blind spots, the mystery, the hopelessness, the uncovering of the conspiracy. You get the sense that something far more sinister is going on other than just zombies lurking around, like the horrific discovery of Umbrella's activities over the years.

First was always my favorite because it was cool seeing how the T-Virus impacted all the wildlife. Giant spiders, mutant frogs, huge snake, the doggos of course, deadly hornets, mutant sharks, giant plants, etc. I mean the zombies okay, but so much of the game was dealing with all the critters and how mankind can screw up nature (not just ourselves). Yah the other games did this too (RE2 croc, RE3 spiders), but didn't have the same effect. It was more like they were 'experimenting' whereas this was just the adverse impact (at least that's how it came across to me).

No way. Though this looks great and the gameplay was fun, the fixed constant changing camera angles, (though nostalgic) is kind of annoying given we have better technology nowadays. The constant never changing behind the player camera angle in re2 remake was fantastic. I'd love to see them redo this game again exactly how they did re2 with even better graphics on the ps5. Omg the horror lol. Still though, for its time....way ahead and very fun.

One of the best games I've ever played. Simple concept and controls, and thats one the reasons why its so good. You can really feel the passion of horror that the creators have. I love the camera angles and the dread you feel of not knowing what comes around the corner or when you open the door. The variety of monsters (the giant snake, the plant, the giant spiders, the zombies, the hunters, that "thing" in the cabin, the sharks, the last boss). The amazing eerie soundtrack. Truly an ode to the horror genre and an unforgetable gaming experience.

I had the original on ps1 back in 1996 when i was 17. Gaming it in the attic of my parents home out in the boonies on black autumn nights surrounded by only a dark forest and white moon light... And then my parents telling me i had to go out and feed the animals at night... I was like "Are you crazy... I am not going out there!!" (just having played Resident Evil lol) Was quite a new video game experience for a kid back then. From what i remember this remaster is of the Gamecube console remake from 2002. Which i did not get. But i remember getting RE: Zero for the Gamecube back then which i had loads of fun with. I remember also i had something called "Resident Evil: Survior" which i had one of those guns which you pointed at the Tv and could shoot zombies with. That was a load of fun too, but i remember the voice acting was very subpar. Ah... There has been so many RE titles over the 25 years since the original and i am old now so i can't keep up lol. However RE is def a franchise you should check out and pick up if you love survival horror gaming! Both the originals and the remakes. Peace & thank you for sharing

The original and the remake 1ST RE are still the scariest games I've ever played! It's just so atmospheric and that fucking creepy music is so nostalgic!My favorite games of all time.

Thank you for this walkthrough I would have been totally lost without it. being a huge fan of the series I am glad I finally beat the first game in the series after all these years. It's a good start, but there's lots of elements I couldn't stand. The ink ribbon system and only ever having six slots (as Chris) was a big issue for me. Always having to use the case for everything felt tedious. Much prefer the suitcase system in RE4 where you can upgrade for more space and move stuff around. Backtracking was annoying. That being said, I enjoyed my playthrough. Definitely still scary even after 25+ years, those crimson heads were terrifying! I still think the later games are the greatest, as the franchise figured out what worked and what didn't. The recent Village was an outstanding achievement in horror gaming. 7 as we all know was quite possibly the scariest in the whole series. But for now...on to the remake of RE2!!!
