The funny thing is...comparing with others Resident Evil MC, Ethan is probably the one with the most backstory and motivation. More than half of the protagonists on Resident Evil have as personality, motivation and final goal nothing but "I AM DOING MY JOB"

It got a bad wrap on release, but if you can put up with a little jank, it has some of the coolest third-person action mechanics I’ve ever seen. Sprinting, rolling, dodging, sliding while shooting, insta-shooting peoples’ heads, suplexing and drop-kicking enemies with takedowns, melee counters, etc. The gameplay has a way higher skill ceiling than most people think, and can look absolutely amazing in motion once you’ve nailed how and when to use all the moves. Plus if you can accept the campiness, it has some of best story elements in any of the games. Leon is so much fun, Troy Baker is a blast as Wesker’s son Jake (and his relationship with Sherry is wonderful), and Chris’ campaign is _absolutely_ worthwhile, it’s genuinely compelling, and easily his best and most affecting story in the entire series. There’s a lot to love about RE6, you just gotta be prepared for 80% action and 20% horror, and a bunch of completely over-the-top insanity lol. While that’s not out of character for RE, it seems like a lot of people took offense to its tone for some reason. It’s not a perfect game, but if you can accept it for what it is, it’s hard not to fall in love with it imo. It’s “The Avengers” of Resident Evil games

I played village in a discord channel with my friends watching and it was hands down the best way to experience the game imo. Similar to the referenced B horror movies, it's just meant to be shared. Being able to sit there and talk shit about how absurd the entire rollercoaster is was a huge part of the fun. Cannot recomend enough that you experience this game with other people. (But not with a chat room of random strangers on the internet because they'll just do everything they can to ruin it.)

This video brought up an interesting point; Games are starting to forget that they're games! Not everything has to be this ultra serious, depressing, philosophical deathmarch. They can be fun too!

They’re trying to get recognized as a legitimate art medium. The super serious route is pretty much the only way to do it. And I wouldn’t say they’re on any stage of forgetting the dumb fun. God of War 2018 allows you to pull off some ridiculous stuff. Ghost of Tsushima allows you to wreak havoc in your underwear. Doom: Eternal exists.

The sad dad trope that started with the first last of us seems to be peak writing and it's super basic and generic (not bad it's really well handled) but the gameplay is just terrible and the sequel didn't really had a reason to exists other than to make people sad and miserable. God of War despite it being all sad never forgets its a video game. I feel Naughty Dog and other devs forget that but that's just me.
