If they make a resident evil 5 remake with the Chris from this game and he punches a boulder in the end, I will cry tears of joy. Perfect opportunity to correct the wrongs of the original. There is a 10/10 RE game in RE5 somewhere.

There’s more there than they realize. Where umbrella and everything actually started. Re5 touches on it and this game goes deeper. The game has its issues and Ethan winters is not an interesting character my any means. They could have pulled off an origins story within this game and the story did fall flat for me but overall I still enjoyed it as a whole. Very well designed survival horror game and improving the combat we got from 7.

Don’t understand how they said Village doesn’t tie into the over arching story when the village is literally the origin of Umbrella.. and also explains why the Spenser mansion is a labyrinth. Not to mention it turns the BSAA into potential antagonist for future games.

Greg saying he can’t recommend Village at $70 when he has said he’d pay $30 or more to see Black Widow on Disney+ is a bit ridiculous. Left Behind was $15 and only roughly 3 hours as DLC. People need to stop making whether something is worth the price based on length when most people pay $20 or more for a movie theater ticket and concessions for 2 hours.
@tylerrichardson3034
@tylerrichardson3034 9 ай бұрын
When he made that statement he didnt say anything about length, it was about what you do in the game and he thought it wasnt fun enough and doesnt do enough to warrant full price. The main time they brought up how long it takes was Tim realizing it was taking him longer to beat than he thought it would.

This game was awesome but I do understand some of their concerns, the main problem with the game was that "Normal" difficulty was VERY easy while "Hardcore" was a bit too hard for newer RE fans. Yall are straight up smoking crack. I just finished RE8 on PC and #$@#ing LOVED IT! Not only is the game STUNNING but it's extremely well optimized and the gunplay is wayyy better than it has any right to be. IMO this game has the perfect blend of RE 1-2 style slow and methodic gameplay, and then you get great FPS Wolfenstein style gameplay, reminiscent of RE4 or parts of RE7. This game, alongside RE2 remake, is easily my fav RE of all time.

Completely agree with Tim. I loved Ethans arc, and I won’t spoil it in here but from the beginning of RE7 to end of 8, I would rather them do a movie based on the winters instead of an RE mainline story. Ethan Winters going from schlubby guy trying to save his wife to a doom guy like badass just makes it weirdly the first time that I went from one game in a franchise to the next like hell yea this is my guy now in this series. Leon/Chris(new) are right there as well.

I have one thing about the locks: in past games (thinking RE4) there were lots of locks you could just knife or shoot, so there’s a precedent for that. In Village, most everything you can interact with has yellow tape or something on it, and so do the locks. And the locked doors in the game have more ornate design than just a simple lock. Not like shooting or knifing a lock has absolutely NO precedent in the series.

@Baybates

I think RE 7 feels more scary because of the characters familial roles. Jack Baker walking around the house in such an aggressive hostility is terrifying, because he is a father. I think that tie to abuse and terribleness holds the same tone as Jack from the shinning. It makes you think of unspeakable, yet common things that do take place in real life. Meanwhile in RE Village it has some scary elements, but its core is fantastical far more than RE 7.

I honestly feel like Resident Evil should be evolving way more than it has. All Capcom seem interested in doing is doing different kinds of horror, when what they _should be doing_ is evolving the systems. Do more with NPCs. Do more with mechanics and features. Imagine playing as Leon/Claire going to Paris because Chris Redfield sent a distress warning saying that the Parisian branch of Umbrella is still developing the T-Virus, even after all that's happened with Raccoon City. So Leon and Claire go as part of a anti-Bioweapon Taskforce, working with Parisian officers, they storm the building in the light of day with a search warrant to tear the place up until they find Chris Redfield. Then somebody puts the building into lockdown and shit starts happening -- in real time, we see zombies killing the police and within 30 seconds the police rise up as zombies. We see NPCs stuck in certain places and if you manage to save them, they'll offer you things -- information, codes, keys, ammo, location of weapons, secret stashes, location of save rooms etc., -- imagine if Leon got off a floor and immediately sees someone hanging off the side of a rail yelling for help. Upon seeing that the room is also filled with zombies, the player decides to abandon conservation, breaks out the shotgun/grenade launcher and clears the room quickly and save the guy before he falls to his death. He then offers you a keycard to a room with experimental weapons, and if you then escort him to a safe room, he will offer you new information -- like telling you where he saw some herbs on the 3F, which is then marked on your map. It's this kind of systemic evolution that will truly take RE to the next level of experience. Right now, they are wasting time on aesthetic changes that are superficial, and they need to recognize that. One day, these games are going to feel as stale as COD and they need to change before that happens.

Like after Sebastian encounters the multi legged women and kills hundreds of zombies and literally had the entire world around him warp and change before his very eyes all he says is “There’s something wrong with this place, and I just love it for some reason. It sounds like everyone except Tim would have had a better experience playing on hardcore instead of standard. If some of your complaints were that you become too op with too much ammo and not feeling in danger that's exactly why you have difficulty settings in survival horror games. I guess Capcom made standard too easy this time especially hearing that they never used block and just took the damage.

NOT JOKING, can you please point me towards an RE game where the protagonist doesn't have stupid dialogue and even stupider moments. You're angry he punched a wall? Seriously... Which one of you here played RE5? That boulder punching moment is such a meme at this point that it literally had a shout out in this game, and Chris still punches a wall at the ending cutscene.... Oh yeah Mia you're husband is gone, and to show I'm serious, gonna punch this wall.... Ethan is perhaps the most well acted character, he actually sounds like he's shitting his pants, kind of like us the platers, and to top it all off... he doesn't say superman sh*t like "Where's everyone going? Bingo?" or "You're right hand comes off?" and of course "Sadler, you're small time!"... I can go on and on and on about Leon but let's not. Are y'all sure you've played RE games before? That RE Dunkey video says it all, "It's like shinning level horror but with the writing of resident evil... movie". How exactly did you want him to sound, please mention an example, because I look forward to take a jab at it if it's a character from the series, and if it's not, I'm gonna point out how much of a contrast this would be from every RE protagonist from every single other game.... @@HKISfreak1 I think that's the main point of argument for alot of RE fans, some think that Ethan is a good PoV character, especially for an FPS perspective because he was specifically made to be as bland and normal as possible so the player could identify with being in that situation. For a straightforward horror game that works coz immersion is the primary thing. But RE has never been "just" horror to me. Kinda cringe when you criticize this game for not connecting to the “lore”, the “story” of Resident Evil series, which is hilarious considering each entry in the series is basically a stand alone story that so happens to be connected to the last game, real RE fans know the story doesn’t really matter it’s the gameplay, level design, and atmosphere that makes the series great
@tylerrichardson3034
@tylerrichardson3034 4 ай бұрын
What do you mean? The story is connected through out the games. 2 and 3 are literally connected because they take place during the same event and you go through the same location. They both connect to 1 because 1 shows where the zombie virus came from. Code Veronica connects to 1 and 2 because it continues Claire's search for Chris, which is her goal in 2, shows a new family of the Umbrella company, and continues Chris' story with Wesker and 5 is the culmination of that story. 4 and 6 were the only ones that were basically their own things of the original mainline series and they did the same to 7 and 8 where they made a new story and aren't really connecting it to the old ones except for quick little Easter eggs here and there.

I beat the game. Been playing the games since 4, and played the remakes. It's my favorite of all of them. It feels like the perfect balance of action and horror. People complain about the acting and the writing, trust me, RE4 is way more cringe worthy. This game somehow had me balling in the end. I really connected to the core of the story, it being a story about a parents and their children, and the crazy things someone will do for love. Ethan has a lot of poorly acted lines, and the writing can be bad, but man, Ethan is father of the year ❤

I don't understand the Ethan hate at all. As if other Resident Evil protagonists were such layered characters. The voice acting direction seems to be a bit off, but I don't hate him or think he is lame. He seems like an every man caught in a over the top crazy situation so how else to react then screaming "Why the fuck is this happening to me again?". And I think they tried with some lines to make him relatable, like when he says "This is just... too much." I think the voice actor did a fine job with that. If anything it's a problem with the writing. But I don't know what else you want him to say or do to not hate him. I have absolutely no problem with Ethan and the aggressive hate is a bit unfair I think, even though I definitely understand if you don't love him. But all the hate? I don't get it. (That being said, I have not finished the game yet)

As someone who loved RE7 it was a huge bummer when I realized that they didn't bring back the same writer (Richard Pearsey) for RE8. I enjoyed the gameplay but the plot/dialogue was like amateur hour, especially compared to the bar set by 7.

the girl completely misquoted the director. He didnt call re7 flat out too scary, his point was about how it was constantly scary so its scares lost impact, and how they wanted to introduce more gaps between those moments for more impact. Agree or not dont misqoute the man

However I wish these companies would stop trying to please everyone. It's a horror game. Simple,if it's 2 scary just don't buy the horror game. Capcom will never see this comment lol but if they do than please stop listening to us fans and just the Damm "horror" game scary lol

I agree, re7 should have been it's own thing, or at very least a spinoff, although Village seems a lot closer to true RE vibes imo. It seems like Capcom is committed to using the Resident Evil label for anything horror related, whether or not it makes sense, so this will probably continue..

I personally could give less fucks about the 'lore' of Resident Evil. I think the weakest parts of RE7 were where they tried to connect it to 'the lore'. 'The lore' is the last reason I would ever pick up, play or ever recommend a Resident Evil game. Nor has the writing ever been a reason I've come back to any of these games. It's all about the moment to moment atmosphere and experience. And that's fine. Also: Please force Blessing to play Alien Isolation.
