Back in 1989/90 me and some mates who were DJ's got involved with some party promoters, they were the resident warm up DJ's and the rest of us helped with promotion. They decided to book Carl Cox for one. A mate discovered that there was a little room not open to the public above where he was DJing where we could look directly down on his mixing without him knowing about it. We spent a good hour just watching the man and his 3 deck mastery in action. He was like a robot, everything he did was so smooth and accurate. He'd be mixing one tune into another with one hand whilst cueing another on the third deck. He's also a brilliant bloke and despite being the Godfather DJ of the scene at that time, he was really good to us all, signed our flyers, took time to chat to us etc. I think what that taught me as a teenager is that you don't have to be an arrogant arsehole to get somewhere. You can be a 'nice person', treat people with respect and courtesy and still succeed. Never heard anyone say a bad word about Mr Cox in the twenty plus years he's been at the top of his game.

I like him more and more. In the 90's when he was 3 deck wizard I liked him but now with technology he has took it to a new level. Great to hear he is a nice guy and you can see he gets proper into his sets!!!

Probably the most inspiring video I have ever seen about dance music. This man, Carl Cox, does not simply play music. He is living it, right through us, the people that come to his parties. Needless to say he is THE Living Legend that impersonates electronic music culture like no one else does. THANK YOU CARL.

I am so privileged to say that I was there 😊❤️ I was to the side of the lighting booth and watching the bloke do his work. He's got skill. They gave him a shout out at the end. I'm also happy that my brother got to experienced it. As soon as I heard SPACE was closing I went straight on line and bought tickets. That is me on the scooter, getting beached on the floor full of bottles and getting stuck with my brother. Being ushered out as I kept shouting out " ONE MORE TUNE!!" The bouncers really weren't in the mood as you could imagine 😂 But then again. He was playing till 8:45, so I'll let him off 🙃

Danil394 you can still see Carl Cox somewhere else around the world or at Resistance. Other clubs that are worth visiting are Berghain, Amnesia on a techno night, Kompass in Gent, Bassiani in Tbilisi, Clorophilla in southern Italy and Cocorico in Rimini Italy. I’m sure there are others. Those are the ones I know. I wish Gatecrasher, God’s Kitchen, Number One (Italy), The Tunnel (NY), and Club Universe (SF) we’re still open.

My two penneth on this brilliant doc: Despite the commercial aspect, which admittedly is unfortunately going to continue to grow, ibiza still has something magical imo, and is still pretty much heaven if you love clubbing and 'electronic' music. the clubs have always been expensive, going back to the 80's. I watched 'a short film about chilling' recently on youtube, made in 1990, and for house music history geeks like me, the contrast in scale and the business side of the scene is fascinating to see. despite that though, I still think you can experience the same ethos, just on a massively bigger scale (obviously if you stay away from the commercial parties). Gutted about Space though - that was pretty much the perfect club for me. what a great icon for the whole scene carl cox has been though - always still gives to the people with all his energy every time, for decades now, and always got time for fans - genuinely deserves everything he has.

Comeonmate7 I'm 24 and I went last year for 1 night. Flew early Tuesday, chilled during the day, watched Prydz b2b with Deadmau5 (for free and even watched in the dj booth) in the evening, then Prydz and Co until 6am Wednesday morning, then flew home. Flights and show cost £100 (and nothing on hotels because I didn't sleep). You can definitely do it on a budget
