Well done, slowly build up your tool collection. When I was an apprentice, I'd go to garage sales and look for tools lol.

I find a Hole Hawg is a must have in resi for auger and hole saws. corded or cordless. Using a standard drill takes 10 times longer to drill wire paths. Do to constant battery changes and fumbling around trying to get a standard drill to fit in places. Id recommend m12 platform for drill/driver and impacts and m18 platform for saws, SDS, and hole hawg. For what electricians do the m12 fuel impacts will do 99% of what you do and they’re lighter less expensive more compact. Edit. 99% if you have hole hawg & sds.

That’s super helpful, thanks I’ll look into those 😊

I do Low Voltage /Data in residential. M12 Drill Driver and Impact is what I carry. Most sparks are impressed when I drill up to 3 stud deep with a auger bit with the little M12. Company supplies the Hole Hawg. I recommend the 8 Ah High Out battery or higher on the hole hawg. It kills 5.0 Ah XC battery quick.

Pro tip when you first get to the job site get a furring strip, pvc or emt and mark your height on it so you dont have to mess with the Measuring tape all day when your boxing in. 20/46/50/82 i do top of box not center.

It’s nice to see younger people with enthusiasm getting into the trade. I’ve always felt that the most important thing you can do is buy the very best tools and work shoes available. Both of these make a huge impact on your body over time.There is a lot of follow the leader in this business regarding tool brand loyalty. I found that the Japanese manufacturers, such as Fujiya, offer tools that will outperform others, while weighing much less. Beyond that, you will be the only person on the job site that owns them, so they are harder to lose. Keep up the great work

2:40 This. I stay warmer working outside in -30 C weather than in a house that's just below the 0C marker. Something about dampness (especially full house gutted renos) just sucks the heat out of anything that enters. Thermal underwear helps(full onsy are the best) and my boss has a Milwaukee sweater warmer which he recommends if you have the cash.

Totally agree!! I swear it’s colder in those houses 100%!!

@jessthesparky2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I haven’t experienced any ICI jobs but good luck to you that’s amazing, it’s probably nerve racking but I’d say ask lots of questions! If you’re in residential, odds are they will want you to go straight to work with a group of guys. Ask questions, never stand around, always think of the next thing to do (like cleaning or unloading material) and do it first! First impressions go a long way.
