I used to fit mats 4ft square copper dig a big hole all rods and plates only work if soil is damp with plates we put sink waste pipes into ground for watering in dry weather

Fantastic video mate. Good reference material to go back on as this test is not one of the common ones and not many sparks could tell you how to do it. I went with a cheaper tester as testing can be done with as you say by 3 methods, my luck get called to a TT install with a fault no power (Fuse pulled) and what looks like a disconnected Earth Rod! Didn't do the job in the end because no one knew who pulled the fuse or why and other issues! But I would have been in a pickle not being able to prove the TT earth was sound prior to the Supplier (DNO had no contact and stated that without knowing why the fuse was pulled they would not reinstate) coming out and who knows when they would turn up! Would probably need to be there when they came.

It is ok 16 ohm ??? In my country we need 4 ohm for normal and 1 ohm for + lighting protection .

Look up stakeless and selective earth testing. If money is not an issue, see earth clamp meters as well.

look st the reason behind the test its to find if your intentional earthing rod position is placed at higher resitance postion than other possible ground at a much lower resistance. In real life we place them where they wont be disturbed and have a loop value below a 100 ohms 😀. ( the condu disk project you did i would see a calculated average being of more value than this over kill method for a single ground stake 🧐)

Mate it’s literally the preferred test method in guidance note for testing earth electrode systems, it’s also great for determining rod location, same principals. The purpose of the video was to educate others on how to conduct the test, if anything the simpler the installation, the easier to get the knowledge across.

@@residualelectrical Yes all good but i think the purpose of this test is to find the best location for the ground rod as far as impedence but there other considerations as well such as location it wont be distubred or provide a hazzard.

@adriatikkrasniqi1453 Hi. Can you please provide an analysis of your calculations - Thank you. I make it: max deviation from average 16.56 - 16.20 = 0.36 then (100/16.56) x 0.36 = 2.17% which is close to Mike’s result!
