I wonder if you used a "mixing white" rather than titanium if you'd have better movement on the white.
@crisscross1047 жыл бұрын
You have something there. The white is the only thing I am not happy with. I want a stark brilliant white that stays clean so I am going through various paints and pigments I have to see what stays clean and doesn't swallow the mica. I also have some new opaque pigment pastes coming to see if they behave and give me the look I am after.

I'm really enjoying your work, Chris! Thank you for all you share with us. I use painter's tape on the back of my fluid acrylic work but have not done it for my resin work. I love that idea! How long do you recommend waiting before removing the back tape?
@crisscross1047 жыл бұрын
I generally pour my resin in the morning and remove the tape the next morning. I have not had any trouble removing it but I have seen people heat and soften the tape with their hairdryers or torches.

Wonderful, as always...Thank you! I'm excited to see you use resin in the rain as i thought the humidity made it difficult to set.

Hi Chris..love your zen videos..have you seen Annemarie Ridderhof in the new Colourarte Primary Elements Pigments.. I know shipping anywhere from Us is eyewateringly expensive as I and others from Oz have mentioned in comments, but now annemarie has mentioned them there's a worldwide run on Primary Elements.. it happens with everything she uses..prices double on Amazon or supplies dry up. Because of this there are people working in the background to try and get distributors set up..so watch the Acrylics Pouring Basics FB group or Annemarie's videos for further news..I think you'd love them.

Brenda I did see her using them. There are so many wonderful products to use that I started a list. LOL I am really loving the exploratory path I am on and I still have a gazillion colours to try. White negative space seems so easy in paint and it was just plain boring the way I was doing it. I am going to do more of these and see if I can get the depth perception working properly and find a way to stop the white resin swallowing the mica.

I have just stumbled upon your videos Chris. I think I'm going to take another stab at resin. At the beginning of this video you mentioned that you repurposed your canvas from something else. Was is an acrylic pour under the white house paint or something else?
@crisscross1047 жыл бұрын
Beth Hi there. When I am experimenting I try not to waste my new canvases. This one had an older white resin pour that I wasn't happy with. So i sanded it lightly and then covered with a layer of house paint and it was ready for use again. Once I have the concept and method down I start to use clean new canvases Just me being thrifty. LOL

Hi Chris. That piece is looking so pretty. I have searched all over UTube but cannot find where to get calculations on how much resin or liquid acrylics it takes to cover various sized canvases. Can you help me on that? Thank you!
@crisscross1047 жыл бұрын
Bebe Many of the large resin vendors have calculators. I use the artresin one. It seems quite good. I just convert the circles to square cms or inches and plug those numbers into the resin coverage calculator. I tend to mix just a bit more. Once you start working with your favourite size you get the idea quite quickly

Hi Chris, just loving all your vids. Thank you for sharing. Just wondering where you get your 91% isopropyl alcohol from? I’m from Brissy but can’t find it at the chemist or Bunnings ☺️ Also what is the reason you use this? Thank you in advance for your answer!
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
I buy mine from a salon supply shop on ebay. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Artists-Choice-99-Pure-Isopropyl-Alcohol-5-Litre-Rubbing-Isopropanol-Cleanser/232195576575?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The isopropyl alcohol acts like a thinner. When you add pigments or powders you thicken the resin and the alcohol thins it slightly.
