Hi Chris are you still creating resin and or video's. Love your work
@crisscross1046 күн бұрын
Thank you. I had a change of direction and moved to painting/ mixed media. I started resin demos at a time when it was new and experimental so it was fun and interesting ….. I do miss those early days when you had to figure things out and share new things. Its much different now that Resin products are prolific and you can buy ready made solutions. ☹ I like being different and spend my time working on texture and unusual painting techniques. So in short I am still making art and may at some point video and share ❤

Metric still sucks, and will suck all this new year, I’m old and get so mad picture this 20 minutes into anything and metrics are used, o well there’s 20 minutes i loose because i have to change channels again and again, people this should be noted in advance sol I can skip whatever I want. Thanks me and many millions of AMERICANS NEED A VOICE, WE SHOULD LEARD we came seconds from loosing our astronauts solely because of metrics, sorry can’t breath . STAN THE MAN.

@@stanroberson2694 your comment made me smile thank you. The great thing about fluids is that you always need to adjust amounts to the size you are working with and there are some wonderful online calculators to help you work out how much resin you need for the size of your piece. Once you have that in whatever your measurement format you are good to go. Enjoy your art.

@crisscross104 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. This was a while ago and art resins have improved a lot. At the time I was using a local tabletop resin with a very high viscosity. It was thicker than art resin and was much easier to control. The trick was to not add too much heat

Sadly it seems like KZbin has become such a business for everyone and that was not why I did these videos. How do you remove mica coating on glass?
@Groupie3332 жыл бұрын
I found this frustrating to watch. Very little explanation about the materials used. My question throughout is WHY??? Why the isopropyl alcohol? I don't need, "Pouring black", I cansee that. But I want to know why this or why that! Frustrating.
@crisscross1042 жыл бұрын
The interesting thing about watching quite an old video is the amount of change that happened in the industry. We were in the early stages of this art form and still experimenting with what worked and what didn't. Now a days you can buy specific resin pigments, dyes etc and even specific resin for the type of art you want to create. The video was labelled demo and I am sure I mentioned that your environment and combo of materials might make the resin act differently to mine and experimentation was always the message. Just to answer one of the questions. Iso alcohol is used to thin the viscosity of the resin…. Different viscosities will interact in your artwork.
@Groupie3332 жыл бұрын
@@crisscross104 Thank you, point taken. I did not look at when this was made. At least it gave me insight to another pouring method. Did love the design. Cheers!

If you seal the back side of your glass in the frame you can do the resin while the glass is in the frame and it is not as messy. Less work for you in the end.
@crisscross1042 жыл бұрын
I did these quite early in my resin playtime ......these days I don't think this is the safest bet on frame glass. Resin is powerful and can crack thin glass. Just test all your surfaces first
@KMF32 жыл бұрын
How do you keep your resin from hardening in the cups. I tried this and my colors started getting tacky really quickly so I had to rush
@crisscross1042 жыл бұрын
There are a couple of things to keep control off. Firstly understanding the open time you have with the resin you are using and learning how to manage that time, secondly each paste or paint may have too high a moisture content that will cause a faster reaction and lastly get yourself a digital thermometer and monitor the temp of your resin. Most important of these is to understand the time frame you have and to be organised to work with in it.

@crisscross1043 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The board is 40cm diameter and these generally use about 200-250mls of resin. I tend to mix more than I need. The resin is a 2 part epoxy so 1/2 part A and 1/2 part B

Im sorry but this will be the first time ill have to say something probably not so friendly. I chose to TRY and watch your video because the still pic grabbed my attention. I needed to learn some misc info but the thing that really annoys me is when u click to watch the video....having to literally wait for your video to almost be at the END before your video actually showed something. So the bulk of your video was waisted with watching you stir the resin.....seriously??? Thats a total waist for videos...seriously!
@crisscross1043 жыл бұрын
Fair comment. This is quite an early video and made for people that wanted to understand how much pigment to use and how to actually mix. The later videos skip this step. Feel free to look at some of those.

its a great way to personlise your gear. just make sure you let the resin cure to its max hardness before handling them anywhere from a 2-4 days.

Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been looking at trying to make more vibrant colors. Glad I stumbled upon you. With your accent I couldn’t quite understand “was it Artisan Snow White”? Also what brand of pigment paste do you use? Thanks for guidance. Also do you have a favorite resin? Do you have other pages on Facebook or Instagram that we can even learn more. Sorry for all the questions, but when I find a great teacher, just gotta ask. Thanks again for your talent and insights.
@crisscross1044 жыл бұрын
Thank you Janice, glad you like it. The pigment paste is by Artisue a local Australian brand. Lovely pigments. I used quite a few different brands and types of pigments. They all have something different to offer so I used was worked best in the piece. Same with resin I was more wedded to high viscosity resins and how it responded rather than brand. I have a limited social media prescence so youtube and closed FB groups are about it. 🙃. I never did a lot of videos just when I felt I had something a bit different to show.

Chris Cross thanks for your response. Do you know of comparable products in US? Stone coat paste? I know Le Rez now has some. I am developing quite an allergy to resin. If it gets on my skin I see remnants for weeks. Hate to think what it does to lungs. I do use a respirator. Any US resins you like? Thanks again, Chris.
@crisscross1044 жыл бұрын
Sorry don't have a lot of experience with US product. Le Rez is comparable pigment paste. Be safe with your handling of resin, full respirator, long sleeves, venilation and gloves. Resin allergies are no joke. Stay safe and remember once you have a reaction it will compound. The great thing is that the skills you learn using it will serve you well with other fluid and wax mediums. Enjoy

Sorry deleted response by accident. He is doing some great unique work at the moment. Did you mean my dyson air purifier. Looks like a little robot. I have been doing some airbrushing and using a vacuum pump and air compressor that give off an oily smell. The dyson just cleans up what my exhaust system misses because the fumes sink to floor level.

Beautiful! What temperature do you recommend on your heat gun? Thank you🤗
@crisscross1044 жыл бұрын
Deborah. I tend to use my heat gun as a quasi hair dryer so my setting is on low. I prefer higher viscosity resin and try not to add more heat than is necessary. That way the resin is slow to move and you can control it better.
