The British painted the French as surrender monkeys to distract from the fact that they ran away to Dunkirk. The Bush administration used it to “punish” French to disagree on Irak invasion. The French inflicted nearly 120,000 casualties in 5 weeks on the germans, and destroyed close to a third of their tanks. Unfortunately a 300 mile german advance was fatal to them, whereas it wasn’t for the USSR. France never had the time or the opportunity to regroup and adapt to the new warfare, as the British and Russians. Few of these French-bashing realize that no other army did as well as France’, that the British and the Americans only fought against 20% of the German army in 1944, at a time when it faced supply issues and then the Allies had twice as more men in France and Italy than in 1940. "You surrendered at birth" just a British psyops: The Dunkirk episode was far worse than was ever realized … The men getting back to England were sodemoralized they threw their rifles & equipment out of the windows of railway-carriages. Some sent for their wives & their civilian clothes, changed into these & walked home.” Even Churchill was honest (in private) when he declared to Hugh Dalton, a prominent member of the Labour Party, who later became Minister of Economic Warfare in Churchill’s cabinet, that Dunkirk was “the greatest British military defeat for many centuries.” General Mason-Macfarlane, the head of military intelligence, summoned journalists & told them that they were to inform the British public to blame the French for “not fighting,” & to proclaim that the B.E.F. was “undefeated.” On May 30, 1940, the BBC announced that “men of the undefeated B.E.F. have been coming home from France. They did not come back in triumph, they have come back in glory. Given the early British determination to discontinue the fighting & prepare for evacuation, the very low levels of casualties, it is a complete distortion of truth to “mock” the courage & commitment of the French forces to say they did not fight - particularly when they were fighting a completely new form of mobile warfare which the French High Command was completely un-prepared for. Hard to see how 90,000 killed meant “not fighting.” The British Expeditionary Force : 3,500 killed

I actually bothered my hole to go and see them in Croatia on the 25th anniversary of the war. There were tears and then big smiles, Laibach with a full orchestra is just a different level. Been listening to them for over 25 years now. Massive love!

Stunning! Thanks for posting. I saw Laibach twice on their Nova Akropola tour in the UK in 1985. They were amazing and a real unknown quantity. Audience a mix of punks, skinheads, art school types, and metalheads. Common ground was trying to figure out what Laibach was all about! "Die Liebe" has to be one of the greatest anthems ever recorded. It's been too long ... I have to see them again ... incredible band!
