Record update is why I'm renewing my updates this year, THANK YOU! I have a bizarre digital/oldschool analog video glitch hybrid setup and had been trying to find workarounds to record just a layer for the past year. I create a ton of my professional content in Resolume already and this is literally about to make my life so much easier. Love u guys

Love the new record updates. I've been using it recently in a content creation project to quickly record BPM synced chase sequences that I am using in some timecoded pixel mapped content pieces I am creating for an artist. Lots of other great possibilities for both creating content and live use, and the level of control over what you are recording is so nice!

I'm excited for the more expanded recording features. How much of a performance hit are you guys getting when recording during a show? In the past it seemed to be enough of a hit that I should find an external method to capture it all. I've been trying to nail down a workflow to capture the video and audio that I perform to for my gigs in a decent enough quality to re-purpose as new content or sharing sets on youtube. I use a M1 Max with 64G Ram MacBook Pro. Which capture setting has the least hit on performance?

The H.264 presets are your friends here. Try medium and if that hits too hard, set it to low. If you are working on a big composition you could also create a smaller screen in the Advanced Output and record that instead of your composition. For example: your composition could run at 4k while you record the whole thing in 720p.

I think the work flow here is to create some killer looks pre show, record out and then play back. I'd also be a bit nervous about recording during a show. Interesting that Res say recording H264 is less intensive than DXV..

@@LEDsAkimbo H264 is great for recording due to its hardware acceleration and compression. It can encode high-quality video at lower bit rates. But it is not good playing live, that is where DXV shines. If you plan to edit/grade the footage later ProRes would be the way to go. Different tools for different applications.

Recording update is a huge leap, the next step could be simultaneous recording of separate layers, I mean each layer is recorded into a separate clip
