I'm sorry my last answer was completely wrong! I was distracted. Your music will come from your speaker on the back of the phone and voice will come from the back of the phone in hands-free mode, and your conversation during normal talking mode will come from your earpiece. Sorry about that!

I did all the troubleshooting tricks you can think for this, even factory reset and changing rom :P lol. With a little search I ended here and with a flick of a tooth pick my trouble was gone. Spent hours working on it before searching. Thank you for this video.

I have a Moto G4 (2016). My phone stopped working over night. The volume is all the way up and I don't hear my ring tone can't answer calls or hang up because it's frozen on answer choice. I tried playing videos on KZbin and snapchat to see if everything else was wrong too and they were. No videos play the videos freeze up and don't play. I've restarted my phone and I've even set it to factory mode because safe mode didn't work either. I don't want to get a new device unless there is no fix. I've had this phone for about one year now. If I can't fix it myself I'll have to take it in to get fixed or buy a new phone instead.

+Sabrina Pass if there is no sound coming out the first thing I would do, is to plug those earbuds into another device. Does the sound start working again? If it does not then it sounds like you may have a broken wire in your earbuds themselves possibly at the connector. +Lyle Sencil the speaker on the back is normally where music would come out. Those speaker "grills" have large numbers of openings to let the sound out. Did you happen to get your phone wet with water?

If ALL the microphone holes are open and not blocked, and your microphone stops working below the 80 percent charge, then I would next try using a bluetooth microphone /earpiece and see if the sound is still missing. If the sound returns, then there would seem to be a hardware issue with your phone.

Did the speaker get wet? Is the speaker clean? It is possible that there is an audio setting that needs to be adjusted. I am only guessing. If nothing works, I would back up the information on the phone to another place, (Google, contacts, apps, data) and perform a factory reset) If the speaker still doesn't work, then it's time to send the phone for a repair. These are the steps I would do, but maybe someone else can voice in?

I would place the phone in a warm and dry environment (NOT a hot environment!) I would let the phone sit in that environment for maybe 2 days or so. See what happens.

Different manufacturers use various methods to achieve a water resistant barrier on their phones. The phones in my video have no water resistant qualities. Unfortunately I have no information on your moto g. Maybe another KZbin USER or a phone technician out there could possibly voice in on this?

Just a thought... Do you have a bluetooth audio device that's connecting to your phone by chance? Connect to your wifi, open google play, and click on "my apps". Update all apps that require updating. Then try rebooting your phone and see if that helps.

Thank you very much. I have spent several hours and attempted many different fixes for my mic not working and this did the trick. I have a Moto G (1st Gen) and found a thin plug of dust covering the mic opening. Compressed air didn't remove it so I used the tip of a needle to remove it. Works like new. Thanks again!!!

Try drying your phone using a hair dryer. I once tried that and it works. If you dont have a hair dryer, try drying it under the sun for an hour. That works too.

I've browsed online and have found only 2 instances of others writing about the exact same issues you're having. (both posted in the past month). Since your phone is quite new, it should be under a warranty. I'd first suggest uninstalling any apps that have been installed around the date things started to go wrong (with respect to the microphone not working). If that doesn't work, I would sync and back EVERYTHING up (through Google) , and then proceed to do a factory reset. Then restore afterwards. Remember! Back everything up as your stuff will be lost, unless you've saved it to an added micro SD card. Try that. If still no luck, it would seem you'll need to send the phone for a warranty repair. (if anyone else is experiencing this PLEASE voice in!)

On my Galaxy Note 2, other people were not able to hear me. When I looked into the tiny microphone hole in the bottom of the phone, I could clearly see that it was plugged up with dust. A gentle swipe with the needle (not going deep) worked for me. Every phone is different so you will need to judge it for yourself. For almost any other phone I have seen that is NOT waterproof, they have had the same microphone as mine. Maybe yours does too? You must do the research. Let us know how you made out.
