Sometimes I believe that consumers don't have much power and choosing what they want, companies steer people away from these useful features so easily. Last year you had an sd card slot, next year you don't. I hate how this part of business works. They condition people so easily that you don't need an sd card slot, just pay $50 more for that extra internal storage. It's just ridiculous.

And some so called reviewers and influencers will push that narrative from companies. And consumers who actually demand these useful features are looked down by tech community,.

microSD cards are extremely unreliable, and for the average user it's not easy to pick a proper fast one (that will usually increase the cost the same as just buying a higher spec version of the phone). They make sense for data you can afford to lose and don't need to access them fast. Like music,... except that cheap/free services like Spotify made it so that no one is now storing their music locally. Or like pirated TV shows, except everyone now has Netflix. You should never use them for long term storage of personal data, because you will lose them, you should use cloud for that. It's no wonder people easily gave them up. They don't need them for anything.
@orangeyellow-me1pz4 күн бұрын
@@JanVernyI want to know what kind of garbage cards you're buying because mine last many years before showing age. Spotify and those like it also don't always have the music many may want because of either licensing deals or the artist isn't popular enough. Everything you mentioned involves more money and those services you keep talking about don't always have the media you want and they require a network connection which isn't always available and can be expensive for many. You can definitely use cards for long term storage especially if you keep backups of your data LIKE YOU SHOULD. Stop talking nonsense. The sd card is a wonderful feature to have. I have a choice while you gladly moved away from yours. How much do you pay for all those services? How much data do you use? Do you stream your music in 24 bit? That must get expensive and is definitely using more battery life. If I want to record forever I don't have to worry about cloud storage or my storage filling up. I just keep going with my 1 TB card that I'm planning to upgrade to 2 TB. I watch my iPhone owning friend that is running her KZbin channel actually stop recording because she's out of space then wants me to use my Sony to record more which I'm fine with because I have the space for her media and my own. A 1 TB option also isn't cheap and as I stated, I can keep one card for pictures for certain trips and 1 for everyday use. I can do whatever I want. You don't have that option.

@JanVerny4 күн бұрын
Ugh, it's so annoying when people try to argue against facts. No spotify doesn't stream high res music and none of these services are without costs. But the matter of fact is that people don't care. They had SD cards, and they still decided to subscribe to Spotify and Netflix, they still decided to put their photos into Google drive. Now those people just don't need SD cards for anything. Sony offers all of these supposedly desired features like pointless headphone jacks or microSD card slots, and the sale numbers literally explain that no one cares about them. Why the hell should Samsung include features that don't help sell a phone?

Also, mine has a slot for a replaceable Sim Card, so I used the one from my old phone a Kyocera flip phone that worked to get all the phone numbers off the old phone. Like for example... - Samsung COULD bring back on the headphone jack but ALSO do it justice like LG did (and that Sony do) by backing it up with a decent Quad DAC (I for one as a bit of an audiophile would fully appreciate that). - Also, Releasing their top tier 'S' phones with the latest Snapdragon SOC for USA, but then hobbling the same 'Top Tier' 'S' phones with Exynos SOC versions for 'Less important markets' like - UK, Europe, Australia and other countries meaning everyone else has to deal with overheating, laggy and lack lustre versions, but wait, Samsung say - "Oh It's because in those markets the Exynos SOC is more compatible with their network frequencies" REALLY Samsung? IS THAT WHY OnePlus, Motorola, Xiaomi, Red Magic, ROG Phone, Oppo and many others release their 'Top models' that have those SAME TOP Snapdragon SOCs (YES, the SAME SOC as the USA market 'Top Tieir 'S') IN THOSE SAME 'Incompatible network' markets? You're telling porkies there Samsung! 🤨🤨🤨 IT'S probably why Google is switching their next Tensor G5 SOC manufacturing from Samsung to the World leading TSMC... 😏👍

I have just switched back from my iPhone X to my old Note 10 Plus. My note 10 suffered massive drop damage last year and was completely effed. So I just threw it a drawer switching over to my Dad's old iPhone X. Now that I have figured out the iPhone will never be for me, I bought a bunch of stuff from AliExpress and ebay including a 1:1 fake S-Pen with BT, gestures and everything for 16 bucks, an aftermarket screen and frame assembly (doesnt cover the edges but was only 65 USD, looks decent and the pen works lile a charm, too (image is ever so slightöy stretched now, but I got used to it already)), new backglass, SIM tray and 4500mah battery from a reputable manufacturer. Paid less than 120 USD for the complete overhaul and now have back a functioning phone that doesn't mind me tinkering with it... Imho the note 10 Plus is still an amazing phone all this time later and feels well modern for its age. However, it marks the beginning of the end of feature rich Samsung flagships. First flagship by Samsung without a headphone jack and last Samsung Flagship with SD support throughout the range (for the note 20 only the Ultra offered expandable Sim). What I definitely don't like about this era of Samsung phones are the curved Displays. Sure they look great, no question. But screen protectors are a nightmare to source and screen damage is almost pre-programmed. My note 10 initially lasted 4 weeks with a flip case before the first chip in the glass.

@michaelb22264 күн бұрын
Note 10 well the whole 10 series felt like a downgrade to me. No expandable storage. No headphone jack. I also liked the physical variable camera aperture and at the time the in-display finger sensor wasn't reliable.
@RanenPo3 күн бұрын
@@michaelb2226 Yup the Note 10 (particularly the non-Plus) was a downgrade in every aspect - no headphone jack, no MicroSD, "only" 1080p, notch, stupid buttons on the left hand side, battery size decreased. After seeing that phone (and all subsequent Samsung releases) I just have no interest in any of their offerings anymore, and I was a longtime Samsung Note user.
@michaelb22263 күн бұрын
@RanenPo well the 23 series enticed me enough to purchase one mostly due to needing a new one.

I still use two of them in 2024. Copper 6GB RAM 512ROM for media (Dex and nReal glasses). Same spec violet one for work. I'm finally looking to upgrade the work phone with the new Snapdragon Gen 4 coming out. I'm leaning towards the IQOO 13 BMW edition for speed, or the vivo x200 pro for photography. It was a good run but I want something that can crush Insta 360 video processing but also take decent photos and film.

I'm about to give up on my Note 9, after a long service life, it's finally succumbed to the "green display" issue and it's just not worth replacing the OLED anymore. Looking at an Xperia 1 IV or V, which I feel was designed with the same type of end user in mind.

My wife has the Snapdragon version, still running strong after 6 years. I agree with opinion of the presenter. One thing he didn't mention is the ruggedness of the phone. My wife has dropped her phone multiple times, no damage yet. And it shows very little slowness after all this time.

Mine still works in 2024 and works fine. looks premium even now. And the screen and camera still perform well. Pen is good too. Except for battery and software support , wish It could have latest updates.

Rounded corners on display are a minus, cases leave corners exposed to display break. Also display protectors don’t work. My note9 fell off a table and display broke. Replacing display costs like 300eur. Refurbished note9 costs also 300eur.

still keeping s9 plus and one plus 7 pro. 9 series from samsung was beast, timeless, best till now. i would exhange my current phone s23 ultra if they ever made lastest phone with this kind of design, no ugly hole or notch, rich features (having clean display, iris scanner sd card and audio jack are my fav parts)

Still using my note 8, I liked the design of it more than the 9 at the time of purchase, and till today I can't move into another device with the current market offers 😢

My buddy had this phone and it got burn-in like 2 months after the purchase. I used to be very pro front facing speakers but then I realized most of the time my phone made sounds I wasn´t looking at it from the front so it made more sense to have the speakers on the bottom and top sides.

The Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9 were truly the end of an era in the smartphone market. Last of their kind. I still use an S9+ because it's just such a great device. Its age is definitely starting to show, so I'll upgrading soon, but I'm glad I was able to use it as much as I have.

I still have my Note 9 that I've had since new. I got the 512 storage and with a 256 card in it it beats any modern phone for storage. I don't use it as a daily now as I got the S23 Ultra, but still like to go back to it occasionally. Such a good phone that has/had it all.

Note 9 was the last Samsung phone I had and while I loved the phone, it also like all previous Samsung phones I owned had horrible screen burn within couple of months of me purchasing it. I went to a OnePlus 9 Pro after that and I am still using that phone today. I gave the Note 9 to my dad and he still uses it today. He is not bothered with a screen with 5 different shades.

The Note9 is the last model in the lineup to have a headphone jack and microSD card slot. The Note10+ and Note20 Ultra still have the microSD card slot despite no headphone jack, but the vanilla Note10 and vanilla Note20 have neither. Also, speaking of the vanilla Note20, it costs the same as the LG V60 when new. And what do you get with the V60? A headphone jack with superb built-in Quad DAC audio, microSD card slot, and an optional detachable Dual Screen case. It's literally a no-contest for the V60.

Can you make a video on the Redmi K20 Pro/ Mi 9T Pro? That phone was a real flagship killer at its time. It still holds own today. It had so many features like metal and glass build, telephoto camera, pop-up selfie camera and the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset. It was truly ahead of its time.

I am still using Samsung Galaxy Note 8 until now which I got from my younger sister who switched to iPhone. To be honest, it still works really well just like my S22 Ultra and much better than my A25 5G! The camera is still great at taking pictures and I haven't had any issues with its other features. I think old Samsung flagship phones are a better buy compared to their new mid-range devices!

If the S-Pen is optional but the headphone jack and SD Expansion aren't Sony's Xperia 1 series might be a good upgrade for Note 9 hold-outs. I've had 2, a 1ii and my current 1iv, and both have been fantastic. The new 1vi has a 19.5:9 display like the Note 9, rather than the 21:9 display of previous Xperia 1s (which has been controversial for Xperia users but may broaden the appeal for those using other brands who find Xperias awkwardly narrow)

I'm still using it to this day for day-to-day uses, even I relegated my Xiaomi 14 to gaming only purposes. Because sadly this phone cannot run games (properly) anymore. Some tips for anyone who still uses this phone or planning to use for the following years: -If your screen struggle to register touch, slap on some cheap plastic screen protector. -If you have the know how, install a custom rom, it'll help with the snappiness of regular uses and battery life (I'm using Noble ROM rn). -Replace (or at least clean) the tip on the S-pen regularly, learned the hard way when some dirt on it scratched my screen. -Make sure to replace the battery if you haven't, it actually made a lot of difference in terms of performance on my Note 9.

It's all nice until longer run or become outdated. Samsung stops support and updates making it vulnerable. It's a cycle that is planned on by the manufacturer. It was a great phone, had one then got the Note20 Ultra and then the S24 Ultra. Let's not forget batteries. They die and replacements are somewhat costly. Carries switching to 5G will drop any phone that is not 5G compatible. These phones are only usable for those who xan hack and root so as to install updates and software never intended for the device. Im getting too old for that hassle, so it's a new phone for me.

Note 8 and Note 9 are so good, but if people want the same package with newer chipsets and still get some updates, I think the newer Sony Xperia 1 or 5 can nicely fill the gap. Yes, with the 3.5mm headphone intact!

Note 9 has curved screen I think so I noped out of that. Went from note 3 to s8 active in 2019 then caved in to s24 ultra trading in my s8 active. Hardly use the s pen though. Glad it's there just in case though. I still use note 3s and note 4 for traveling video and audio with lots of SD storage, headphone jacks, and MHL to HDMI for hotels.

I adore this phone. Still using mine to this day. The Spen comes in handy from time to time, the screen is gorgeous and not having any notches or punches makes it even better. It powers any headphones I have well and the expandable storage lets me pack it full of files I need. This phone feels like the 1080Ti of phones, the apex of the market and a mistake Samsung will never make again.
