The VR-11 is one of the most widely-hated Wonder Weapons in all of Call of Duty Zombies, but I'm hoping this video will give you a new level of appreciation for this underrated gem.

Edit: I said that the PAP'd Scavenger is a one-hit kill until "round 40-something" but I was wrong - it stops being a one-hit kill on round 36. I knew that was the case for the normal version, but I didn't realise that Pack-A-Punching the Scavenger actually doesn't increase damage, it just increases ammo. Edit edit: Pack-A-Punching the VR-11 does NOT increase the duration of the teammate buff. Thank you to JayIsMLG for catching this. I think every wonder weapon has its flaws like for instance the ray gun is good but without phd flopper you deal damage when you shoot at the ground or near you.

Absolutely - every wonder weapon (with very few exceptions) has its own flaws. The VR-11 is a flawed wonder weapon, but a useful and unique tool that completes the Call of the Dead experience.

I love COTD and I have this husband who plays COTD for highrounds and I still think the VR-11 is just designed bad. It is a 1 shot kill forever but the problem is that it just does not have enough ammo and killing zombies once you get to the VR-11 only strategy in highrounds is just extremely slow and involves trading the VR-11 all the time to get a new one, then use it and then pap it again. In coop it is really fun to use as it gives the person who gets shot with a papped VR-11 shot limited instakill (hence why the coop round record is higher than the solo one). But for solo this wonder weapon is just tedious. Should have made it possible to shoot yourself in solo with the VR-11 - would have been a game changer! But even in coop trading out the VR-11 over and over will eventually error your game :( But I do feel like people just want to hate on COTD and it´s features. Same with players calling George annyoing and hard. He literally gives you perks and a Wunderwaffe Dg-2 every 2 rounds :P

Yeah, high round COTD is no joke, especially since there are no traps or ammo rounds. It would've been awesome if the insta-kill effect workef solo but at the same time (as someone who isn't a high rounder for the most part) I like the dependence on co-op and requiring a teammate to truly succeed. This is exactly why I love ColassalKiwi. Just scrolling through the comments, he literally responds to like every fan. And then look at how easy it would have been for him to stretch the video to 10 minutes and load in a bunch of mid-roll ads. I love zombie games. Dead island and dying are some of my favorite games, but you never hear larger you tubers talking about those games. ColossalKiwi is the only channel I ever still hear even mutter the words “dead island 2” . A lot of other youtubers Put fortnite, and obnoxious red arrows and click bating thumbnails. But not Colosal. You can really tell he’s making content he actually enjoys, and I truly applaud you for that. My only request is that you maybe make just one left 4 dead video. It’s like the only one of my favorite games you haven’t covered yet. Anyway, I just want to say that I notice and appreciate all the little things you do for us.

I think the VR-11 is good on co-op. The problem is on solo it doesn't really do much offensively. I always found shooting the exact zombie three times a bit hard to do as the zombie would sometimes get lost among the crowd. I also found the explosion effect to be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes it kills the full hoard. Other times it makes crawlers and other times it doesn't kill anything, but the one human. (Perhaps if there was a charge mechanic like the KT-4 and the explosion damage was more consistent it would be better.) I will say the effects and design for the VR-11 look amazing even in 2020! I love the red mist explosion it creates. I also think the zombie blood vision looks cooler than Origins'. I only wish it turned the zombies into Soviet soldiers and not CIA agents. I always thought that was weird like the VR-11 was originally meant to be on the map Five. The Design for the VR-11 is also very cool and otherworldly. It looks like a mechanical Scarub! I also like the vague storyline of the VR-11 being one of the experimental wonder weapons for the Weapon 87 Program along with the Wave gun as they both share the number 87 on their weapon models. Actually if u shoot the same zombie twice they will still explode and instakill not when they're coming out of the ground so it's just as effective to double tap as shooting 3 times

First of all, I really appreciate that you are shining light on what makes the V-R11 special. I actually didn't know about some of these features before watching this video, but you've actually said alot of things that are innacurate about the weapon and when you want people to respect the weapon and put what makes it good in the spotlight, you should at least get your facts right. First of all, it's irrelevant wheather or not the player is standing in water when the upgraded V-R11 is being used to make George leave for the round. All that matters is that George is in the water when he is hit. Also, when the upgraded V-R11 is used on another player it does not make them invincible. These are just a couple examples of some incorrect things you've said about the map, however despite how you've falsely made the V-R11 sound better than it actually is, it is low-key pretty good. Edit: I was misspelling V-R11 in my comment, so I fixed it. I hadn't noticed I made the error until now. My bad.

Hey, thank you for the feedback. I appreciate your passion for getting things factually correct and not spreading misinformation, because I also highly value these things. To address your points, at 3:45 I say "If you shoot it while HE'S standing in a body of water". Not once did I claim that the player has to stand in water. At 4:44 I do use the word "invincible". While it may have been a slight exaggeration, I still stand by it. Sure, you could still down yourself from explosive or fall damage, or by getting all up in George's face, but if you're in a state where zombies completely ignore you, I'd say that makes you pretty invincible in the sense that it would pretty much have to be intentional if you went down. You've made some pretty strong claims here that I've gotten a lot of things wrong in this video about the weapon and the map. Would you please be able to provide any other examples? I take pride in the work that goes into these videos, so if my video is as inaccurate as you claim, I'd appreciate it if you could provide evidence of these claims. There are two instances in which I mispoke (a gobblegum name and the round at which the Scavenger stops being a one-hit kill), but I corrected these with on-screen text/the pinned KZbin comment. If you could highlight some of these other examples you mentioned, I'd really appreciate it. I look forward to hearing back from you, and thank you again for the feedback.

@@ColossalKiwi First of all, thank you for acknowledging and addressing my criticism of the video. To address your first response to my criticism, at 3:43 you did NOT say "If you shoot it while HE'S standing in a body of water". What you actually said was "if you shoot him while you're standing in some water" I checked countless times to make sure this is what you said and I even tried to see if there were subtitles in English for the video that would confirm this. With that aside, maybe you just misspoke and misunderstood what you said, as it's clear to me that you do understand that the player does not need to be in water to perform the action. To address your second response to my criticism, I understand what you meant, the problem is that you're misusing the word, which could lead players that don't understand the weapon very well to die from believing that they cannot down themselves with their own grenades for example. It's been a while since I wrote my original comment and watched the entire video, but if I can recall correctly, I noticed multiple innacurate claims that I didn't even mention in my original comment because I wasn't 100% sure that they were innacurate and would have had to test in game to know for sure wheather or not the information was true. Since you wanted another example and took the time to respond to what I have said, I went ahead and started a game of Call Of The Dead, got the V-R11 and pack-a-punched it to test something you said that I thought was innacurate. So I've been teaching my girlfriend how to play the zombies maps and when I was teaching her about the V-R11 on Call Of The Dead, we counted the number of seconds it took for the duration of the "zombie blood" effect to ware off after a player was shot with it. We also did the same thing with the V-R11 Lazarus and found that the duration of the effect between the upgraded and not upgraded versions of the weapon are both 10 seconds. I was counting out loud at the time and when I watched your video I thought perhaps the effect lasted an additional fraction of a second when the weapon was upgraded and I just gave you the benefit of the doubt until writing this. So that brings us to now and my girlfriend just used her phone to properly time the duration of the effect when using the V-R11 and the number she got was 10.46 seconds. She says she was a little slow when it came to stopping the timer and the .46 seconds is in the realm of the margin of error obviously. The time we got with the V-R11 Lazarus was 10.21 seconds. She also says that she was a little slow, but not as slow as the first test when it came to stopping the timer. The .21 seconds is also within the realm of the margin or error. Now this isn't the most scientific as we did 1 test for each version of the weapon, but you didn't offer any number in your video so I think this proves that your claim that "the effect actually does last longer" 4:36 is wrong. I think that the duration of the effect for both versions of the weapon is exactly 10 seconds with stacking aside.

@@jayismlg3478 Lol nah at 3:43 I say "while HE'S standing in a body of water" - I was just speaking a bit too fast and I can absolutely hear it both ways now that I play it back and listen for it; it does kinda sounds "while ya standing in some water", but I am 100% certain I said "he's" - I vividly remember writing and recording the script, and I've personally never held the belief that the player has to be standing in the water. If not, then this is one of those things where you're going to have to take my word for it, as the creator of the video. I could definitely have spoken a bit slower and clearer, especially given my accent (I tend to skip the "h" in "he's" when saying sentences like that quickly). As for the second point, I'd like to give my viewers a bit more credit than that. I listed the effects of the weapon and then summarised it as being invincible for the duration. I suppose I was subconsciously going off the assumption that viewers would have an understanding of the Zombie Blood/Anywhere But Here effect, but I still could've been less hyperbolic with words like "invincible". Bit of a pedantic point, but nonetheless it's still something I could improve in the future. Addressing the third point about the duration of the effect, this is a really good point; thank you for putting in the effort to test that out. I'll admit I didn't have anyone to test that with at the time (the co-op footage used in this video was recorded at least 3 years prior), so I went off the wiki on that one because I genuinely couldn't remember. I wouldn't go as far as to say I've misrepresented the weapon or the map in this video, and I believe the core message of the video still stands strong. Regardless, I'm glad you were able to learn some new things from the video and I'm also glad it sparked some more discussion about this weapon over a year later.

@@ColossalKiwi Believe me, I'm not here to hate on you and forgive me if I sound like I am nitpicking. I just found out what pedant meant and I don't mean to come across that way. I usually give minor mistakes a pass if it's a 1-time thing but if I notice a very obvious pattern I tend to be extra critcal. Yeah, at first I was kinda unsure as to wheater or not you said "he's" or "you're" but as I kept listening to the moment in the video I kept hearing "you're" and what actually made me think that you simply didn't understand was the fact that you used footage of the player shooting George with the V-R11 Lazarus while the player was in the water with George. Lastly, you said some water, not body of water and because you messed this up in your response, this made me want to double-down on my point that you misunderstood what you said but I understand and I believe that you did say "he's". It isn't really a big issue, especially not on its own. It could just be a bit confusing to some people. When it comes to the "invincible" thing, I think it's a bigger issue for those that are learning the maps in order and thus, haven't seen the zombie blood/In Plain Sight effect before. Also, I think you're mixing up In Plain Sight with other gobblegums again, but I don't blame you, I honestly cant even keep track of how many there are these days. The whole duration thing is completely understandable, it just makes the video worse unfortunately. As someone who relies on getting information from the COD Zombies wiki I feel you. Sometimes the information is spectacular and sometimes it seems like it's just added lazily. If I am not mistaken, what I will often see is that the Call Of Duty wiki on Fandom will also have its own pages for zombies related content so what I would reccomend doing is checking the Nazi Zombies Wiki page on Fandom and the Call Of Duty Wiki page on Fandom for what you're looking for to find some overlap, because I believe I've seen pages for the same zombies-related topic done by different people within the two separate Fandom communities. Trusting the Wiki sometimes isn't a bad idea, but just be skeptical as it's imperfect. I just rewatched the video and I think you forgot that Matryoshka Dolls are also a wonder weapon, meaning that 5 wonder weapons are available in the map. You probably didn't forget this but you might have also forgotten that players are offered the Wonderwaffe drop immediately after completing the main easter egg as well. I wanna repeat that I really appreciate what you're trying to do and I see the passion. I like how you interact with your viewers. However, I find it extra important that you in particular get your facts right because when I search "What does the V-R11 do?" on KZbin, your video is the first one that shows up, so I was a bit disappointed to see how many errors were in it. Pat for example is really influential but he obviously has a stupid opinion of the V-R11 so I think it would be awesome if this video had more polish, because your opinions and message are great but you've said alot of wrong things about the weapon in question and the map as a whole, which makes the video not so great. I'm not here to tell you what to do, but I would love to see you take down this video and replace it with one free of errors, because it genuinely has the potential to be the best and most influential video about the V-R11 on KZbin but it just isn't that great in the state that it's in. The problems with this video remind me of Deadshot Daiquiri because the individual benefits of the perk are almost worthless, but with the three effects combined, plus the low cost, it's a respectable perk. The individual problems in this video aren't very bad, but considering how many there are, I think it's a serious issue and you absolutely have misrepresented the V-R11 and Call Of The Dead as a whole. I got the increased duration factually incorrect, which is completely my bad, but the two other points aren't actual errors. If the only actual error is that I got only 1 out of the many different weapon effects slightly incorrect, I don't think it's fair to say it's a serious issue and that I'm misrepresenting anything. You keep emphasizing the great number of errors on this video, but I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Unless there really are a bunch more errors in this video I'm not yet aware of, I think you're being overly harsh and unfair; if anything, misrepresenting my video - an opinion piece on a weapon. If you can enlighten me as to what all these errors are, I'll genuinely consider re-making the video.

was something I've always advocated, any weapons that can neutralize zombies in any round are mostly better than those that can't, so I've always considered the vr-11 to be a good weapon (because of the ability it has in Coop), but even on solo it has proven useful
