Learning how to be sad takes work. In Britney Spear’s autobiography, she wrote about her painful abortion and meeting other celebrities that she liked. How could she even think about meeting other celebrities when she killed her own baby in the restroom? We cannot sit still in our sadness so we try to find anything to distract us from deeply grieving. A nun is allowed to visit her family only once every five years. In order to be Christian, we have to learn to be sad. Christianity can’t exist without sadness. This is why the image of Christ’s Crucifixion is in every Catholic Church.
