How do you get a doctor to understand your compensated blood gas? I had a patient last night they wanted NIV and then potentially intubation with a fully compensated blood gas. It was so frustrating and they caused her more anxiety because of all of that.

First off, I really appreciate your videos. I paused this video at 3:16 . I noticed you said the pt needed to be tubed but why not try BiPAP first?

Hi! It's not a bad thought, and more information would likely be needed to make a definitive decision, but I said intubate and MV because the pH is below 7.25. That's a general guideline to remember when preparing for the TMC and CSE exams. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
