Most people don’t understand how combat sports, particularly boxing, can help you in all areas of life. This is particularly true for young people: How to breathe deeply, and fully, and calmly, even when you are full of anxiety. How to approach extreme stress and extreme tension with a relaxed, focused mindset. How to overcome yourself; push through boundaries and barriers that prevent you from completing/succeeding/being. How to overcome others; physically, mentally or emotionally. Boxing is called the “sweet science” for a reason because mastery of oneself, and mastery over another, requires that you walk into conflict with philosopher-scientist mindset and the body of a combatant.

I'm a white guy from the west end of Louisville KY. This video reminds me of my old boxing trainer James "Biscuit " Roberts. Basically I grew up in the hood. Biscuit was a cool old black dood that trained me in the amateur and professional ranks of boxing for close to 15 years. He was always there to sit down and talk to me if I needed to which was a lot. There is a lack of men in this day and age to mentor our youth. Glad to see someone filling that role. Men if we want our sons to be men we need to teach them how to be.
