Ah, the version of which i just said "SO autotuned that is should get roasted for it. Horrible and lazy interpretation, "lets smooth over all the edges and make it beige"..". Not taking those back, if it is the same one we are talking about. That is the kind when you are making a product and eventually as you are polishing it, you take all the things away from it that makes the original great. The original has GREAT sense of parody and laughing at yourself, over the top stadium rock anthem with cheesy lyrics. Trying to make it "authentic and intimate"... It is kind of like people thing that "Every Breath You Take" is a love ballad, and then make a cover of it non-ironically. You did not get the song, you used the song, exploited it. Taking away all the edges it became nothing. And you obviously have the talent to do better.

It's great to see you being so generous. A lot of bands (I'm looking at you Eagles, in particular) would not only refuse to acknowledge these covers, but will actively strive to have them removed and blocked. This is a very special song to me. It was playing on the radio as I was steaming down the road far too fast having been told my one day old son had been rushed into the SCBU. If you listen to the lyrics imagining new parents looking at - and unable to hold - their one day old child in an incubator hooked up to various medical monitors they take on a very different meaning: ‘I believe in a thing called love, just listen to the rhythm of my heart, there’s a chance we can make it now, we’ll be rocking’ til the sun goes down…’

Something about the Gareth Bush-related thoughts I think just shows how much of a class act and genuinely thoughtful guy Justin is. The description of how the way the song was subverted reflects the "contemplative" tropes what I would personally describe as saccharine "American country wedding vibes (tm)" simultaneously acknowledging the craft but recognising it kind of makes his awesome high-impact song pretty lacklustre and trite and being real about it... I dunno man, I guess I just appreciate Justin and think the Darkness was a breath of fresh air that was perfectly timed to hit me right in the puberty and resonate in a big way when I was out there falling in love with my first and only love. That kind of tropes-y music really is emotional porn, it can catch you and be a quick and easy way to bust a nut/get some moist eyes but man there's so many ways to experience emotion and appreciate the mind-fucking-blowing-awesomeness of falling in love or just simply being a horny motherfucker and I'm so glad for vibes like The Darkness out there in the world. Vitality! The Darkness is music for fucking living!

My wife and I sang a duet cover of I Believe in a Thing Called Love to start our wedding. We met at Karaoke, and it seemed a far more appropriate start than the traditional wedding march...

Wonderful story, it is something that never is going to happen to me, that a man fall in love with me after listening me to sing 😂

When I was 15 years old, and taking guitar lessons. My teacher played I Believe in A Thing Called Love and his wife sang at a very local small-town gig. He played the entire ending guitar solo behind his back. It was EPIC. I'm now 35 and have been a fan ever since. You are such a lovely human, truly.

PMJ has so many brilliant covers and theirs of your song is no exception. Killer source material partnered with an amazing interpretation equals total awesomeness!

Postmodern Jukebox was definitely my favorite out of this selection, but I would have loved to have seen you react to the version by Scary Pockets!

Postmodern Jukebox is awesome. One of my favourite KZbin cover bands.

You mention about weddings, myself and my wife walked (more strutted) out of our ceremony to your original version. Such an exciting exit for us!! My vote is for the Postmodern jukebox version though
