It made me so happy to hear you say that you don’t judge people on their efforts in school because you don’t know their circumstances. Through most of high school I didn’t try AT ALL. I skipped school, I didn’t do homework etc, and I got a lot of judgement about it. BUT when I went into foster care and finally got a good set of parents, I suddenly was trying SO HARD, managed to get university acceptance and a few scholarships. Turns out I was smart all along, just had a lot of trouble at home and no one cared if I worked hard!

From your kindness and politeness I can tell that you were raised by loving and sportive parents. A lot of people are raised in a toxic home yet they are very kind, but they somehow lack motivation and self love. It’s just amazing how parents can influence our lives. My parents take advantage of me and my siblings, making me skip university so they can go on vacations, taking our salary, manipulating us and throwing their responsibilities on us. And me especially because I’m the oldest girl. Seeing you and how loving you’re parents are and how happy you are truly does make me happy. I hope one day to get married and leave this house, I imagine my home would be like your home, warm and cozy. I don’t understand people who are jealous from others who have everything that they don’t, you Ruby have everything that I wish for but I can’t but feel happy for you. So be happy for those of us that can’t! You have no idea how you’re videos have helped me, I watch your videos everyday, I even rewatch your old ones, that’s how much you’ve changed my life.🖤🖤🖤

U just assumed because she’s a good student that she had a good set of parents which may be true but u have no idea what people are going through. Also u can’t stress on what u can’t control only what u can do the money thing shouldn’t be a stress factor. My friend goes through horrible shit he is close to being homeless and me and him are in an advanced program and he’s getting almost straight A’s. What you said at 7:43 made me reflect. I don't know how it is in UK, but in my country you are basically forced to go to school, you are forced to learn things that sometimes are not even interesting for you and for the person you are/want to be. It's not even a free choice. I've never thought about it as a privilege, and now I try imagine what would I be today if I've never had the opportunity to study. I would certainly be more ignorant and I couldn't appreciate some of the great things that this humanity has made, like art. In that moment I realize that studying and learning are the most beautiful things ever, but it's just people who ruin them and make them awful. So young people give up, they are not even attracted to those things, they don't see the greatness in them and they can't find a reason to learn them.

Many times the bullying isn’t about the person it’s directed at, but is due to pain within the bully caused by something (often unmet needs or some type of dilemma rooted in the upbringing etc). But sometimes it is as you say, Ruby, about assumptions. Only thing that is certain is that someone who bully others is not in a good place emotionally or they wouldn’t feel the need to hurt others. To not stay silent when you see things that are off can help so much, and for all you know it might be the catalyst to end such behavior. You’re always allowed to say something even if you think it will make you feel great discomfort. To stay silent is in a way to agree with such behavior instead of calling it out.

Yeah, but the bully isnt the victim of the situation. Ive had friends that were bullied, but their problems were ignored because the person bullying them apparently had "anger issues". Like, no you hold rhe person accountable no matter what, and you treat the actual victim as the victim, not the bully as the victim.

I really love how you addressed the assumptions about your socialising patterns and initiating conversations. It bothers me that some people seem to think that introverts have less of a social life just because we don’t become friends with EVERYONE we meet. Seeing a few close friends frequently is a just as exciting, if not much better, social life than going clubbing every weekend with a big group of people

I don't particularly see the problem in "dressing like a grandma/great-grandma"...but I love to see your outfits because I feel that they represent you so well! Plus, if that style makes you feel comfortable/beautiful/confident then we should celebrate it! Also, I wanted to recommend Carolina Zebrowska's YT channel (her channel name is simply her name) because I think you'd love it. Her channel is a wonderful world of vintage style and well-researched information about it all :)

Have you read Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own? There's a bit on how the Brontes wrote passionately, being inspired by their emotions and feelings while Austen was composed and never went "astray" with her writing. I really think you might find that interesting

About the Jane Austen assumption. Although Austen is one of my favourite authors, I can understand why you don’t like her works. Everybody has their own opinions and likings! You said that you would like to like her books. For that matter I can recommend Emma and Northanger Abbey, just because I think that they portray more emotions than her other works.

I rarely ever write comments but I really did feel as though I had to write something this time Never feel bad for your privilege, you didn’t choose the environment you grew up in. I came from an under privileged background (council estate, not an easy family life) and whilst it was difficult to climb the ladder - that wasn’t your fault. Never feel guilty about having something others might not have, your awareness and acknowledging your own privilege is enough. You’re fantastic, think of all the kids/ teenagers/ young adults you encourage to go above and beyond with their own academic abilities! Thank you for everything you do. I already graduated from my course a couple of years ago but watching you is a breath of fresh air. Keep being you. 🥰

What makes me even more sad is that next semester I won't even be taking any classes online or in my campus, all due to financial difficulties. Don't force yourself to like an author. Just be yourself. And in fact as an English lit student you have all the right to have an opinion and not like an author. Also I do agree with your point with lacking emotion. It's so true and it was so hard for me to read the whole book. The only reason I finished the book (over the span of months) is because I don't like to stop reading a book halfway.

Hey Ruby! I also prefer the Bronte's sisters than Jane Austen but please never say that there is not enough emotion in Jane Austen's works: "I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart, even more, your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. You alone have brought me to Bath. For you alone, I think and plan. Have you not seen this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I had not waited even these ten days, could I have read your feelings, as I think you must have penetrated mine. I can hardly write. I am every instant hearing something which overpowers me. You sink your voice, but I can distinguish the tones of that voice when they would be lost on others. Too good, too excellent creature! You do us justice, indeed. You do believe that there is true attachment and constancy among men. Believe it to be most fervent, most undeviating, in F. W. "I must go, uncertain of my fate; but I shall return hither, or follow your party, as soon as possible. A word, a look, will be enough to decide whether I enter your father's house this evening or never." Persuasion

I can't stand alcohol either myself. I have also never been clubbing and I'm 40! I also like to socialise one on one rather than a group. You are so right about intelligence and all the factors that play a role in school performance. I was what they called a 'square' or 'teacher's pet' because I did well in school and loved to read. I also hate fantasy stories! I hate it. My favourite genre is probably drama and family stories. I also love to talk to strangers, start up a conversation, even though I'm introverted. I do need my alone time, but it doesn't make me shy around others. I don't like junk food either. Chocolate is okay, but I don't really enjoy it much on the whole, and I detest lollies. We live in Australia and we feel very lucky living in Australia.

Don't feel bad for your privilege. The fact that you acknowledge it, and are grateful is enough through and through. I'm super happy for all you have. Everyone should be able to have it, but that's not how the world works. The important thing is contributing in this matter in the best of your abilities and I know you do/will continue to do.
