Great progress! You may want to fab up a little sheet metal ducting to that oil cooler. Doesn't look like great flow with the back of it blocked by the washer bottle, and the path through the fog opening leaves a lot of space for air to get around the cooler rather than through it. I assume you'll run some sort of underpanel below the bumper too? Ducting was always one of those things that I felt like separated a "pro" quality build from a more standard.

Man that black satin finish on the charge pipe looks amazing, you should change the black on the valve cover to that black satin. The black gloss doesn't look good on an engine plus it looks terrible when it gets dirty, at least with the satin, it's less noticeable.

Love the thought, time and effort that go into your builds - and that you're not afraid to change your minds when you learn something new or just aren't happy with how something has worked out. As for the angled oil cooler... If angled cooling assemblies are good enough for formula one, they're good enough for a Supra! 😁 I'm a massive fan of wrinkle red cam covers (yes, Honda fanboy) but..m have to say I'm not loving the way it looks in that bay. A green would work well imo - match the tops of the coil suspension mounts AND green is complimentary colour to red anyway. But as always, your car, so whatever you guys like best!

I would suggest a heat shield on the down pipe, after the flexi section to protect the gearbox. A simple alloy or steel curved section of sheet metal fitted to either the down pie it self or bolted to the gearbox, which ever is easiest, it will cut down the radiant heat from cooking the gearbox oil.

Guys, as always love how clean your builds end up. They're aspirational. If you're still trying to figure out what to do with the 350Z, can I suggest a HKS supercharger kit? Ideally with an engine rebuild, but stock bolt-on would still be great content. I haven't seen any decent channel cover an SC kit, and given the 350Z's popularity and relative affordability compared to the rest of the Japanese car market, I think there will be a tonne of interest on how to push HP on these cars.
@misterlith3 жыл бұрын
I've watched a lot of these videos and seen the pics with the turbo on it and reference to response etc, but none of the videos I've seen at least mention what the turbo on it - feels like it should be mentioned occasionally as some will have started watching part way through and not have the time/inclination to watch every single video right through. A .61a/r exhaust housing is VERY small for a 3litre if it's running anything smaller than a GT35/G35 size turbine.

My suggestion would be to ditch the mechanical radiator fan because they are proven to eat a lot of power and could impose a problem as far as responsiveness goes which is kind of ironic because that is the whole point of the build. An electric one would be much more efficient both powerwise and coolingwise and should not interfere with the engine's responsiveness. Worth the added hassle imo.
@speedacademy3 жыл бұрын
Actually electric is no better in cooling and I have yet to see a dyno chart of mech vs electrical so heresy is anecdotal whether it really robs any power
@aristidisgioulis80443 жыл бұрын
@@speedacademy Actually, engine masters on motortrend had done dyno testing on this subject quite some time ago on episode 20. The results speak for themselves if you want to check it out. Just to let you know, that TRD gearbox mount is going to be awful in a street car if you hate vibrations and noises. It's very firm which is good for racing, but on the road you will hear and feel most of what your gearbox is doing. So just as a warning so you aren't suprised, much better to source an OEM non trd gearbox mount if you want it nice and smooth like factory.
