“Helplessly Hoping” is another great harmonic work of art by Homefree also if you haven’t already there is a song by a member of Homefree and that would be Tim Foust along with Peter Hollens “Misty Mountains” Both of these are just tremendously great stuff for the ears!!!!

Not exactly the sound most people associate with "a capella", is it? And while HF's harmonies are always great, this arrangement by Club for Five is magnificent. It uses their talents so well.

The back three are left to right: Adam Rupp, beatboxer extraordinaire and backup tenor; the middle man, Rob Lundquist, tenor; and on the right, Austin Brown, high tenor. The two front and lead singers, on the left, Adam Chance (called Chance), baritone and bass (4 octave range - tenor to bass) and on the right, Tim Foust, bass to tenor and inbetween (5 octave range).
@belinda9696 Жыл бұрын
Tim and Chance are the lead lower voices here in this song, and Adam, Rob, and Austin in the background are tenors. Home Free did a whole patriotic album if you are interested, they have many other songs along those lines. Try the original that Tim wrote, "Land of The Free."

Thank you for sharing your reaction to this sombre tribute to all brothers (and sisters) in arms. Home Free is known for its tight, magnificent harmonies, and for how perfectly their widely ranging voices blend. We forget there are no instruments, and in this one, no beatboxing. Those interludes, and the "amen" at the end, could well be an enormous pipe organ. Great reaction.

Since you were so mesmerized, you may not have noticed that the beat boxer was singing in this one. He has a great tenor voice, and that 5th harmony part really made some of those chords incredible. Those chords remind me of a pipe organ.

This is such a beautifully sad, haunting rendition of the song. My deepest condolences on the loss of your grandfather. Gratitude to all the armed services personnel - their sacrifices have not been in vain. Incidentally Tim, Austin & a consortium of other artists do fund raising for at-risk veterans. This is a great tribute to soldiers all over the world. Mark Knopfler, a Brit, of Dire Straits wrote this song about the Falkland’s War. He is one of the best known guitarists of the last 40 years. I love this version and I’m so in love with this vocal band! 👏🏻 Wow! 😮 They are all so talented. ❤
@susanengland3919 Жыл бұрын
What’s striking about “Brothers In Arms” is just how much Knopfler manages to convey in a minimum of words. With startling efficiency, he inhabits the soul of a wounded soldier who muses on his surroundings and waxes philosophical as his life ebbs out. It seems likely that Knopfler had the Falklands War, which took place in 1982 between the United Kingdom and Argentina, in mind when he wrote the song. But by keeping specifics out of the narrative, he makes the song a timeless treatise on the senselessness of war.

Great reaction.. such a haunting song. I remember the original and Home Free has certainly done it proud. Never would we judge. (Hi fellow epileptic!) .Fly that flag proudly. If you'd like to hear more military Home Free stuff.. try their version of God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood ... That is awesome.. but have your tissues nearby lol,,,Listen to Adam Rupp (the beatboxers track.. he is truly incredible) New sub here.. ty for all you do! Stay safe!

Okay it’s time you checked out some of the beatboxer’s shining lights. 1) Man of Constant Sorrow. He plays an invisible harmonica, and 2) Ain’t Goin Down til the Sun comes up, more “nomonica” as we say and 3)God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood and 4) Elvira with the Oakridge Boys …….. I could go on and on. (And I will if you are going down this rabbit hole!!) Oh, and their Christmas songs are great too. Check out Oh Holy Night. I enjoy your reactions. 😊

Subbed for more Home Free. In the description, HF expanded the definition of brothers in arms to include everyone, and to remind us that the infighting amongst ourselves is wrong, for we our fools to fight amongst our brothers (and sisters) in arms. (Paraphrased.) Thanks for a good reaction. BTW Tim is a dragon 🐉! The beatboxer Adam is an alien 👽! 😊
@cmitchell7347 Жыл бұрын
Great reaction to ine of HF's most emotional songs. The video does capture the sense of haunting with the ghostlike silhouettes. Their 5-part harmony is unlike anyone else. In the middle of the song, we're treated to their signature 'church organ' effect. If not already mentioned, and if you're interested, the guys have a playlist of behind-the-scenes footage called 'The Vault.' (All very funny.) This one may be in there. Given the somberness of the video, a lighthearted juxtaposition is that Tim's huge, white dog, Satchmo, was curled up, sleeping at Chance's feet (baritone, front left) during the recording when you don't see his feet. Appreciate your willingness to serve while circumstances dictated otherwise. Your heart was certainly in the right place. My father served in WWII and the ex in VN. Neither was open about their experience accept when talking with others with whom they shared the bond of that special brotherhood.
