I am a retired teacher who had the wonderful experience of bringing a puppy into my classroom and for nine months watching the children benefit from its presence. My naughtiest boys calmed down, the noise level in the room went down so that the "puppy could get quiet rest", students took turns at recess escorting the pup to his potty breaks teaching them responsibility, and children who had trouble making friends would beg to sit in his kennel with him and read to him. The one boy who was terrified of animals eventually begged his parents to get him a dog, too. Thanks to an open-minded principal, that year was a "miracle year" that I wish all teachers and their students could experience. Bless you for promoting this idea.

I am who I am because my dear grandmothers cared for me and nurtured me and talked to me. They taught me so very many life lessons that I would never have learned-so many things id have had no insight about! These women-they were so good-loyal, beautiful, hard working! They knew the truth of the secrets of being in your power as a woman- I sometimes hear people speculate about "what is the matter w/people (kids) these days?" Well, there is something to this finding strength in our feminine nature and being all girl & tough as nails. Holding shit down. Going the extra mile. Taking the TIME to nurture the future generation. Being selfless. Loving. Owning our bodies and knowing we are sacred gifts. Do not lose hope ladies. We are creators. In these times of hardship... Well, all is NOT lost. We are going to take this world back! teach your babies to love themselves! My grama said, no matter what is going on the most important thing is to always be kind, and always act like a lady. Well its not easy-But its worthy. And it is beautiful! Thanks a lot for this wonderful Interview Barbara! I am a physician practicing chiropractic and holistic integrative medicine for the last 32 years in Europe: Italy and Spain. After listening to you I ordered and read Dr.s Gladys book 'A well lived life'. I am thrilled with her genuine passion for Healing and for empowering people through professional wholehearted counseling! It inspired me so much and helped me get "juiced up" again. I am on my own quest trying to stay aligned with my life purpose: helping people heal by using non invasive, evidence based techniques, and education about how to keep body's physiology balanced throughout life and enjoy a disease free happy life! I wish all health care profesionals could read Dr.s Gladys book! It's a gem and a treasure of wisdom. I've shared it with all my English speaking colleagues and patients. Hopefully it will be soon translated to Spanish, Italian, French, German and other languages!!

This was so refreshing. I was educated in the medical field 30 years ago, but gave up my profession long ago, because it wasn’t what I thought health care should be. If I had known Dr McGarey I would have pleaded to work with her. I was very much into alternative medicine, and still today treat myself using alternative therapies. My once best friend, who was a physician, but unfortunately has passed away, always said, “whatever works”. He used conventional medicine, but also believed in alternative treatments as well. Of course, I too believe we are blessed to have certain drugs like antibiotics that have saved many lives, but I believe also we cannot saturate our bodies with drugs for every ache and pain. My friend was not especially liked by the teacher and she was forced to clean up after the dog. I thought this was unfair and complained to my mom,who had been a teacher. Mom invited the superintendent of the school district over and persuaded him this doggie did not belong at school. That was 65 years ago. This isn’t a practical idea lm afraid. Pet therapy has been used very effectively in nursing homes and prisons. It’s not called pet therapy in prison, but that’s what it is and it is a wonderful program too. Some people are against the homeless having pets but i think it is wonderful for the pet and human to be able to bond and comfort each other especially in America where starvation isn’t a problem for the homeless. The homeless often throw away food they have so much to eat. The mentally ill with careful supervision could probably benefit from it too. My mom was an elementary school teacher and she always had pets in her classroom. She wasn’t allowed dogs or cats but any small, quiet pets she was allowed. She had fish, hamsters, Guinea pigs, crabs, a tarantula (the kids loved it after she showed them she could hold it and it was safe), and a very sweet rabbit that would follow you around and lick you like a dog.

Evangelist Kim. God be praised. I'm a semi-retired Teacher/Mental-Health Counselor and I think that was a very creative, god-ordained idea; bringing a puppy to class. I'm sure it was just as rewarding for you seeing children transform before your eyes. May God continue to bless you with creative ideas for the children in your community.🙏👍

God - ordained. Funny . The massive millionaire churches in Texas couldn’t care less about the highest kill rate in the nation in their horrendous state with tons of abused starved street dogs.

What a wonderfully wise, well lived and wise woman! I am a relief teacher in a large high school where a woman comes in regularly with a bunny and a large therapy dog called Ted. He and the gentle bunnies have an amazing calming and posative effect on the students! You know it is said that God couldn't be everywhere so he gave us dogs! God spelt backwards you know!

For good health and longevity, many doctors and "specialists" advise following a specific diet. I was so encouraged to hear that she put the importance of love in life before food, as per 1 Cor. 13. As for food, it's secondary, but each person should consume what works for him or her. Thank you for this interview!

I’m so glad you’re able to do this. Sadly because of the reality of our world many millions of kids in rich/developed countries an incr number grow up in poverty and families can’t afford to send them to private school. Home school hard when they work 2-3 jobs. Also as a consequence of now epidemic levels of addiction and depression/suicide rates too many children end up in some form of (very under funded/under regulated) social system incl foster care. Odds are high many of them will end up homeless on streets as teens to escape abuse and be vulnerable to addiction and trafficking. I only say all this to say how very fortunate children are in loving safe stable situations like yours. 🙏

@@sayang3170 100% agree. It's a classic womanly beauty and not like now where 18 year olds get fillers and destroy themselves. Its because of insecurity before one knows ones place in life, when one does, later in life and have been through it all and land in oneself, one feels "Hey, I'm pretty damn good" Thats when one calms down and embraces oneself. At least thats how it was for me and I'm now 46. It took me 46 years to understand. Imagine the insights we've gotten at her age huh..Super cool!

Five years ago God told me his purpose to have me on earth is to play guitar. This realization took me off guard because previously guitar had been my hobby whilst I believed I was put here to protect laws on human rights, which is a part of protecting the environment. I want to be more influenced by Dr.Gladys McGarey: I want to wholeheartedly love myself, wake up singing and support her movement for guardian dogs in the classroom, particularly considering the terrible epidemic

I lost my grandma at 89 years old and if we could’ve had her a little more active, I know she would’ve lived to 102. 😊 She had the same demeanor and pragmatic outlook as this beautiful lady. I’ve also had my first 2 years of training in conventional medicine (which has its place) and then left it to raise my family, but holistic, Eastern, Ayurvedic, TCM… to me, is pure medicine. 🙌🏼🙏🏼 Thank you so much for bringing this info to us.

Amazing thoroughly enjoyed the conversation! Wonderful! Felt so many things so many things comes to mind during the conversation! Thank u so much! The limitations we put on healing, the part the patient plays on healing things we say over and over u gotta to get better and what that really means! Praise God for the Drs amazing insight! Time and wisdom and really thinking our purpose ye didn't expect her to bring up the mass shootings going on in ur country and i dare say the solution as well! Reminds me of how taking care of horses are used in the healing of traumatised youth! Perhaps that is really one of the purpose of the animals low and behold! I pray that sooner than later someone will realise her suggestion and run with it! It is deeply disturbing to me to on the other side of the world! Problem is one cannot predict these things nor can we see on another's face what his intentions! At least we need to work on getting our kids and society feel safe again! Make our schools a safe place again! And a dog might just be able to do what we can't now isn't that amazing! He has a purpose more than nice one! O will definitely share and hopefully purchase the book! Also it it like how can you know God if u don't know urself! Still working on understanding that one! How can u love without loving urself first! Can't thank u enough! Go well and God bless!

@27:20 this resonated. Other women have pointed it out at times but none like her admitted to doing the same. At 55 yo I learned for me it was about respect vs acceptance. Maybe it’s also generational passed down thru an often patriarchal world. Thank you. Interesting woman and interview.
