Asking a question like that really shows your age. It wasn't that long ago the CPU was not soldered on the motherboard. A lot of Manufacturers still don't solder them on the board directly. It's just becoming more common in lower and computers pretty much anything custom built it still removable.

Такое "восстановление" снимают в обратном порядке. Сначала норм аппарат собирают и включают, а потом уже вываливают в лужах глине и типа моют и "реставрируют".

I don´t buy it, as others have said, the computer worked just by ¨washing the mud off¨ and putting it back together? Notice he didn´t put new thermal paste in the CPU before putting the cooler back on. If it was working fine, why would someone just throw it away? Also, if he used the original HD, why would he have to re-install Windows upon boot up?

@GGigabiteM
@GGigabiteM 4 жыл бұрын
You can wash some computer parts with water and soap, so long as you make sure they're 100% dry before applying power again. I've washed logic boards, peripheral cards and power supplies with water and dawn dish soap for years with no issues. It's one of the best ways to clean them if capacitor leakage has happened, as the electrolyte is corrosive and you want to be sure all of it is gone. Another good case for washing boards is nasty greasy restaurant computers, or computers from smoker's houses. There are however some things you should never get wet. Hard drives and other mechanical media devices (floppy drives, optical drives, ZIP drives, tape backup, etc.) Hard drives especially will be ruined if any water gets inside where the platter stack is. Fans can be washed as long as you don't get water in the bearings, which will ruin the grease. Though it's not a huge loss if that happens, it's not hard to remove the shaft clip and pull the hub out to re-grease the fan bearing. Though with that being said, this video shows what you should not do. If you're washing an Intel motherboard with an LGA socket, you MUST leave the CPU installed to protect the socket. He trashed the socket scraping a brush over it, you could see the mangled pins. This computer will never work again. The power supply also has to be disassembled to clean it, you can't just dunk the whole thing in.

I am pretty sure that motherboard is socket 775 which ran from 2004 to 2011. It has a Core2 sticker on the front of the case and that line of processors and were made from 2006-2012. So it can't be more than 14 years old and could be as little as 8 when this video came out. A little misleading. And I think they forgot thermal paste, and put the memory in the wrong channels. But hey, don't take this as a PC building tutorial and it's fine. Really liked the video and a great effort in reducing e-waste!
