If you give the tubes a tiny bit of air, it makes inserting into the tire much easier and you don't have to worry about pinching it when putting the other bead of the tire onto the rim.

Bmx or mountain bike tyres are easy to put on by hand never once pinched one in 20 years

@@joski9030 his point still stands. If the tube isn't filled with a bit of air, the tube can get under the tire bead and pinch it.
@paddingtonsnare987 Жыл бұрын
Yep always a little air. I usually keep the tube inside the tyre and just line it up with the valve, pop it through and quickly roll the tyre over the other side of the rim. No need for any tyre levers lol. It's not a car tyre😅should be easy
@austinartist06089 ай бұрын
If you read the installation instructions that are printed on the box of the new tube it says to do just that. This is one of those just do it kind of tasks I guess.

Honestly it looks like someone rode it until the front wheel broke, after which the bike had been left out, so metal components rusted. Just my guess though.
@nob0dy27_2 ай бұрын
@@mahimkhan2940 trust me if this bike would've truly rusted to this point naturally he would not have been able to reuse the chain, bearings and any other small components. plus the completely monotone orange colour evenly distributed across the whole bike while the grips and seat (which are obviously not metal) are fine is a clear indicator that this bike was purposefully subjected to some sort of rust catalyst for maybe a week at most

To be fair, the hubs looked like the originals. That front rim was way too far gone. If it were me I'd have replaced the chain and the bearings too - no point in using them, but he did, I guess to prove a point. The bike started off with two brake levers, but no front caliper, so he junked the front brake too. I probably would have gone with no brakes - most street BMX'ers don't run brakes.
@spetsnaz10142 жыл бұрын
That chain was quite flexible considering how rusty it was. Also why did you grind the link pin, why not just use a chain link removal tool?
@HitsHangerMusic2 жыл бұрын
That's because the bike has clearly been aged to make the transformation seem more dramatic. He probably half stripped the paint off and covered in acid a day before the restoration. Seat tube never would have slid out that easily and the lack of pitting on the frame is a bit suspect.

If you ever choose to do a bike restoration again, I would advise to replace parts instead of refurbished because parts always have a lifespan on how many rough landings they can take before they break and you never know how much stress those metal parts have been put under prior to you getting a hold of it
@onemoreriff76442 жыл бұрын
That would include the frame and forks in that advice to though, probably the most stressed parts of them all. Which basically means don't refurbish any of it if you are that safety conscious. Sometimes restoring something doesn't mean it has to last, it's all about the process of what can be achieved.

@dashofawesome64Ай бұрын
@@onemoreriff7644 Depends on the type of bicycle. Its a good reason for not buying second hand aluminum mtb bicycles. Steel has a lot of flex to it. So chances of metal fatigue are slim. I do agree with changing out a lot of the parts. Because there so cheap and also some new brake levers will feel so much better then the same restored ones from 25 years ago. I would also replace bearings if there easy to get and not to expensive. It's all about the feel that moment someone hops on a bicycle.

Hola.
@Water.897 Жыл бұрын

@smallmechanicalthoughts4559 Жыл бұрын
Most guys use citric acid, to cut through the rust…but it’s much easier to submerge all the parts in a tub. The second liquid is paint stripper…I use this quite a lot for removing paint. There is a big caution when using paint strippers, it’s caustic and needs to be neutralized with a 1:1 acetone and lacquer thinner mix, this will clean the metal surface…just like metal prep. Then your ready for primer and paint.

you are fully equipped, you can get a broken bicycle but the damage is not too bad, I bought a bicycle for only IDR 100,000 equivalent to 6.5 dollars. a good used bike is only IDR 400,000 equivalent to 26 dollars. The bike I bought had to be replaced because the fork was bent, the frame had holes due to chain friction, the wheels had to be replaced because the freewheel was so hard that if forced it would damage the wheels, the spokes broke a lot, if repaired the cost exceeds the price of new wheels. so I had to buy new wheels, the old bottom bracket shook and bent the frame until it eroded the axle iron, replaced it with a box bottom bracket, there were no two inner tubes for the outer tires, the crank and chainring were broken and bent, the saddle was broken rickety. I invested all of that around IDR 1000,000.00 equivalent to 65 dollars. while the former is only IDR 400,000
