Full of admiration for your skills and explanation. My brother-in-law is the chief watch designer for Citizen and he absolutely loves the old designs, as I do. Best wishes from Japan.

@@rescuingwatchesI can imagine these watches were popular among servicemen. Water resistant to 5 bar, highly shock resistant, highly legible and easy to tell where twelve o’ clock is in the dark.

It is amazing how good the dials are on some of these vintage watches hidden under cracked and discoloured crystals. Cheers rescuing watches, very enjoyable.

Absolutely! Moisture will end up damaging the dials but other than that, they hold up surprisingly good! Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻

That was a very educational video. Thank you. I just ordered a Citizen Watch with this movement in it from China. It is supposed to be running. I also ordered a Citizen Homer movement for parts just in case. I learned a lot from this video to help me in the future to service the watch. I do not have the skills to repair a balance complete like you did in this video. Beautiful work you did on this video. I am very impressed with the watch as it is very high quality for the time it was manufactured.

@@rescuingwatches Can you please answer a question? I also have 2 HMT 0231 movements that I could use for parts. There is a spring that breaks a lot in the keyless works. They call it a time setting adjustment cover. It has a spring arm on it that breaks a lot. Can I use the 0231 part as a substitute on the Citizen?

The first time I’m watching your channel I love your work. The only thing that I would ask is you use more lighting to brighten up the work area. The wide shots are well lit. It’s the close-ups on the movement that are dark.

Very nice video. I have one of these, a 1963 I think and it's 17j. Runs well, case is nice. Unfortunately my dial isn't smooth, there are marks and scratches in my dial and I have the wrong case back. But, like you said, it's going to be nearly impossible to find another.

fantastic video, as someone just getting into watches your videos are awesome. Your thought process is very followable and well narrated! Also the endresult + the strap came out wonderfully tasteful A 7a28 7010 fell into my hands and I would like to restore it. Its a Quartz and I will start with changing its battery. Lets see where the journey takes me. love and greetings from Vienna, you earned a new subscriber! :)

I'm not too sure of what Citizen really wanted to call this watch, BUT, as a seaman visiting Japan for the first time I was issued with a printed page of handy Japanese phrases. One phrase caught my attention, that was.....Tomo Dachi, (Special Friend) and not to be confused with ...Homo Dachi , (again Special Friend, BUT DIFFERENT)!!

I have watched this video several times. I received a donor movement today from EBAY and took the movement apart. I damaged the intermediate wheel that is right near the Calendar driving wheel because I did not remember that it was a left handed screw. Very sad. The donor movement has several damaged parts but also many good parts including what appears to be a good balance complete and many other nice donor parts to use later. I also tried to use HMT parts on this movement. They do not fit as well so I answered my own question. HMT parts do not work on this movement even though they are almost the same. In my opinion this movement is first class for a budget manual wind watch if you are into that.

Is a no win situation with watches. Having an automatic winder is like imploying a driver to keep turning areond the block until you need to go somewhere, not having that is like parking your car in a barn cougered up. The best thing is to only own the watch you actualy ware. Evreting else is a waist of money. But I do like to look at my colection so what do I do now. Lol a no win situation 😅

Series 0200 movement is/was absolutely famous. It came in many forms, including hack and date, as well as chronograph. The most numerous one came in form of HMT 0231 that was a licence-produced Citizen 0201 movement made in India. I understand that you wanted original parts, but even old Citizen parts manual lists all balance parts (and fork) as the same part number (including chronograph version!), so you could have (at least) tried with one from second-hand HMT that is available for 10-20$. I have seen many pro or semi-pro watchmakers on KZbin that use second-hand parts, and in my opinion, this is a lost chance for getting an even more interisting video. As is, and you have said, it was quite expensive repair, as (if I understood you correctly) you used NOS parts.
@rescuingwatches
@rescuingwatches Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip! That is very useful information 👏🏻 I tend to search for compatible parts once I fail to find NOS, but in this case as you say, it would have saved me quite a bit of money! 😅
