Restoration of an Old Planer. Very Amazing Handle!

This old planer belonged to my grandfather. But many years ago, its hilt burst and was lost. Since then, he lay on the lowest shelf in the barn and gathered dust.
I thought about him recently and decided to make him a new epoxy handle, and also updated his paint. In my opinion, the plane turned out to be quite original.!

I’ve inherited all my dads planers and now can follow your steps to clean and restore them. My dad was a carpenter as was my grandad. I’m sure some of the tools I inherited were my grandads too so will be over 100 years old. I love woodworking too and have a workshop where I do carvings, sculptures and etching so all the tools will b put to good use. Thank you for sharing this video max 😊

@@ITBR_Restoration I'm sure I can't. I do not have the slightest bit of knowledge about tools. Or what to do with them. Although I did knock in a nail with a hammer once. Lol, I'm sure YOU can replace all the handles on YOUR planes though.... Seeing is believing. ❤️❤️❤️

Надо было опалубку для заливки эпокидной смолы загерметизировать (силиконовым герметиком или хотя бы термоклеем), иначе есть риск, что смола протечет и зальёт весь стол, так же неплохая идея использовать разделитель - вазелин, или тефлоновый спрей. Ну и ещё, эпокидную смолу лучше использовать предназначенную для массивных заливок, иначе может случиться, что закипит, или затвердеет до того как все пузыри выйдут. Поверь тому, кто не первый год знаком с эпоксидной смолой В остальном работа великолепна! Рукоятка особенно офигенно получилась. У тебя с каждым разом всё лучше получаются реставрации

Благодарю за просмотр и замечания по делу) Это был мой первый опыт с объемной заливкой эпоксидки! Каждое замечание в точку )))) - через нижний стык начала просачиваться эпоксидка, пришлось экстренно заматывать скотчем 🤦‍♂️ - спустя короткое время эпоксидка достаточно сильно нагрелась, тепло ощущалось даже через толстые стены короба))), вынес на ночь на улицу. Считаю что малярный скотч отлично справился в роли разделителя!
