A glass bead blaster would make quick work of cleaning that old jack. I have one that I need to restore.those holes you were wire brushing. I would have used a brake cylinder hone it works great. New cotter pins would be nice too.

Having used track jacks for close to 50 years, I'd almost guarantee that at some point, you will be removing the grease from the rack. Never saw one with grease on it. Not necessary. Looks great, though. That one looks like an`antique. Back in the early 70s they started making them out of aluminum, to make them easier to handle. They also reduced the weight limit to 7 tons, for track jacks. Nice job!

They're VERY expensive new and well worth owning. I use mine to lift shipping containers when I place railroad ties or steel beams beneath them as foundations. If you can find one of the telephone pole jacks they're magnificent (and still being made over a century later).

My two favourite sort of restorations are either things that remind me of my happy childhood, or things that are new to me. Living in the middle of Lancashire I can honestly say this size and type of jack falls into the latter. When you heat things up what gas do you use please, is it always propane or one of the derivatives or can you use butane. I know to temper it has to be propane as butane will never demagnetise most metals. Personally, I enjoy seeing small tools like the ones you use in your restorations restored. Even something as simple as a screwdriver can be a good watch if done well. A wonderful and a somewhat complex restoration. Very well done indeed on the quality of the restoration and the fact you got it back together again. Both of which would have been well beyond me.
@FixitRestoreit

I must admit, this is the first restoration where I had to study the disassembly video to see how it went back together! And I hadn't seen one either when I lived in England 😏😎

Very good restoration 👍👍👍. 1. I subscribed a while back. 2. I normally refrain from saying anything about how you guys doing the restorations do it, but friend that was painful watching you remove that pin. All the energy from the hitting was being lost, the jack was moving. Your clamps should have been on the jack. 3.Get a piece of 2x6 and attach the grinder to it, than you can use one clamp only and have a spare for the work piece. 4. Yeah restore your tools. LOL

Я так думаю, что сия приблуда и так была в рабочем состоянии, её просто перебрали, отмыли и покрасили, т.е. это не реставрация, а ревизия.

I guess you painted it green? Like about 50 percent of men, I have a color vision problem with green, I either don't see it at all or don't see it correctly. I'd have rathered you went with fire engine red, or a bright yellow. Since such an item would be dangerous to use, that makes sense to me.
