Same happened to me with valve gear screw on mallard and evening star after couple of laps on track , a right pain to put back together .

True Hornby parts bin economics from Margate. I'd just bide my time and go round the exhibitions looking for a goer and strip this one for parts to support it. With a charity shop, it's a lottery I'm afraid. ATB, Andy

I have now been made aware of ClarkRailworks and their second hand range. Well described and accurate and amazingly really, really good prices. So I think I will shop there for some early items to run on the layout, when it is built of course.

3d printed motion brackets are available on the bay place

Hey @mickd6942, I did get a replacement but did not think of 3D printed ones. 3D printing is something that I am very excited about. When I returned to the hobby a year ago I found so much has changed since last I ran a train. Lots of good stuff but have to say that 3D printing is something that I eventually will get into and I am so excited by that.

For the motion bracket, repair might be possible with super glue and baking soda. Worth looking up.

@@ChobertonJunction assume you have tried peters spares for the part? Tbh when this same break happened to me I just used superglue and bs and it's been fine.
