@@pyeltd.5457 2004 is "vintage" for computer/gaming equipment maybe, but for radios, not really. This is a faux retro radio with a 70s look. And if you google the model number you'll see it's still being sold new in Asia. Those videos are fake, they deliberately throw equipment in the mud and then clean it, most of it is faux retro equipment to make it look older than it is, then they clean it and call it "restoration".

Seems to me he'd be taking a big risk purposely packing mud into the radio, modern electronics are easier to destroy than thier contemporaries. It looks like the radio was sitting somewhere that either flooded or was involved in a landslide, and the original owner assumed it was destroyed. He seems like an older fellow, and the radio is designed to look more retro, so it's easy to see how he would have mistaken the age of the radio.

Great work, reckon with more probing and delving will get even more of that radio working.

I must say that In such a remote area as to where you live, roosters crowing, there must be an antenna to receive even the most powerful broadband signals. What you've ended up with here is a radio that plays static. I have to say that I had high hopes for this video, but all hopes fell short of a high quality production, probably because the reason it was tossed to begin with was there was no antenna, and in you're haste to pick a project worth restoring, before you even picked it up was a lost cause. Much like the project, sorry to say, this video was a dud.

Literally a "shit box" radio. I'm a little leery about dunking those plastic insulated variable capacitors in water. Might need to leave the PCB buried in rice for a month to dry it out! Also getting the speaker cone soaking wet like that will just about destroy it, the voice coil will be dragging on the magnet from the swelling.
