Thanks so much for the video to do with how to remove the dash. So much conflicting information online or no information at all. Trying to diagnose an issue with clocks at the min and need to take the dash out on my mini. This will help. 🙂

Missing my weekly sprout fix 😜. I remember my dads mini when I first learned to drive, that rear mounting was a rubber bobbin and a twisted metal bracket.

Great video on removing the dash! Tried with the Haynes, but a video is obviously much clearer! When you pulled the dash forward to see the back of the glove box, there’s a square as if it should hold the sticker with build details. With my dash completely removed, the sticker was on the bottom of the glove box. Couldn’t be seen by tipping forward

Good to tidy up the little jobs on Sprout. Noticed you didn’t add the John Copper signage on the doors of Sprout after the repaint Keith?

Classic Mini Workshop. Can I ask what editing software and cameras do you use? I’m restoring a 1980 clubman on a KZbin channel called ‘ The Reengineer ‘ and I want to improve video quality because it’s not great at the minute so I’m interested in making better quality videos. Thanks

I put a new sender in mine. It needed a bit of bending to read the right max and min resistance but it still seems erratic. I suspect mine is sticking as it sometimes stays on full even when the tank is half empty

Hi Keith, Enjoyed your video as usual. I need some advice on dropping a Mini motor back into the engine well. Can the exhaust manifold be on the engine when you drop it in? Also can the radiator be on? I've never done it before so I thought I'd ask your advice. I've watched other videos and seen some people leave the radiator on and some not. I've never seen anyone put a motor in with the manifold on but it looks like such a pain putting on after I wondered if it was possible to put it on before installing the motor?
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
What year is yours? You can leave the radiator on but to be honest I would take it off, it's only the one long bolt at the bottom. The exhaust manifold can stay on but the down pipe needs to be fitted after. It's as long as it is short really, leave the radiator and manifold on and struggle to get the whole unit in or fit the engine without then struggle a bit after to fit the radiator and manifold. In my experience the latter is the easiest way to do it and less likely to damage paintwork.
@midgelambert38804 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop It's a 1975 Canadian 998 Mini. The radiator is mounted to a 1 piece cowling with 4 small bolts, 2 on each side. I'm putting in a new rad and just had a small spigot installed in the bottom to make it easier to drain in the future. Also I'm putting in an LCB exhaust manifold with separate intake manifold instead of the original old cast iron exhaust manifold. Anyway thanks for your advice. I think I'll put the motor in sans rad and manifold. Cheers, Midge

brilliant video i have the same problem with my mpi fuel gauge, changed the sender unit still reading low, bridged the wires together gauge reads full. temp gauge ok, so not the voltage stabiliser presumably. so how did you fix the fuel gauge? thanks

I've not got round to fixing it yet! It's one of those jobs I keep forgetting about.

Does the rear silencer box sit "skewed" like that as standard ? I thought it was more tucked up and level under the turnk (sorry - "boot" !) floor ? Maybe an MPI Mini thing ?
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's still not right. I've stopped the banging but now it looks a bit wonky. Bit more adjustment next time I am under it.

Fuel sender. Why are so many new Mini parts inferior and basically just a waste of time?
@classicminiworkshop3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, so annoying. I think it's a legacy of cheap cars/cheap repairs but nowadays they are not cheap and people would be willing to pay a few extra quid for better quality
