Less confusing way if you're using Windows 11: Download the archive Extract it Open the folder where the power plan files are located Right click > Open in Terminal powercfg -import "Name of the power plan file.pow" No need to add complete path to command if you execute powershell within the folder the files are located

Hello Brian, they are not inverted comma's as you described they are quotation marks. Just for your information I'm not being critical.
@Nick4162210 ай бұрын
Strange. In Australia, we call them inverted commas as well. I'm not criticising you. Just did a Google search. Inverted commas are just another name for quotation marks.

Can I purchase Windows 10 Pro keys and apply them during the installation of a new Windows 11 Pro copy? If the answer is yes, that sounds like a fantastic deal. Appreciate it!

Thanks for this vid! I have an HP laptop with their own power plan. Ive tried several times to re-introduce the standard power plan set and ended up following a tutorial to edit the registry when none would show up despite the cmd prompt saying it had been successful for each. For some reason i still can get the "Ultimate" setting to show up even though the others are now there.

If you open windows mobility centre from power options, they are there by default. After that they will appear in power options too. No need to do anything else.

Except my pc only has one power plan that is the balanced one. So no.
@macmill814910 ай бұрын
@@charginginprogresss Just click on windows mobility centre on the bottom left in your power options in control panel and you should be able to switch it to either high performance or power saver from there. In any new windows 10/11 installations, there will just be balanced in power options by default.

Some do, some don't. I think it depends on how Windows was set up. OEM machines tend to have missing plans.

I've tried everything I could find about how to get my Acer aspire 3 fan to stop running after shutdown. Nothing has worked. There are no power or fan settings In the BIOS. I updated to the latest BIOS. It runs after shutdown and drains the battery. Tried resetting the OS to win 7, 10 and 11 and still the fan runs after shutdown. I contacted Acer but no response from them. So what I do is run the computer with the fan disconnected on the motherboard. The CPU temp with the fan running is around 35c. With the fan unplugged it runs at 45c still in the safe mode. Made sure I have the latest drivers but it's a no go. Wondering if a new motherboard would fix it. Terrible computer I bought.
@MrKentaroMotoPI10 ай бұрын
It's either a BIOS bug, or a defective fan controller on the motherboard.
@trainmaster021710 ай бұрын
I totally agree with you because I've tried ALL of the suggestions that I could find on the web and of course nothing worked.@@MrKentaroMotoPI and another thing. I tried to install a second ssd but the computer won't turn on with it installed. Pull the sata HD cable and it turns on. Just weird. Thanks for your reply.
@MrKentaroMotoPI10 ай бұрын
@@trainmaster0217 Well, the SSD shouldn't cause that problem. SATA is a very mature and reliable interface. At worst, the BIOS might not recognize it. Try the SSD in another machine. Also try swapping out the power supply - assuming it's a standard ATX interface. All your strange power issues point to it as another suspect.
@trainmaster021710 ай бұрын
The SSD I used is from another laptop that works just fine. The only other power supply "brick" that I have is from a DELL that won't fit if that's what you mean. by swapping power supplies. I only paid $15 for it at a yard sale. I was able to ask her later if she had trouble with it and she said that's the reason she sold it. She said the battery wouldn't stay charged.. She didn't know the fan kept running after shutdown thus draining the battery. She said it was like that when she bought it new. I tried entering the BIOS debug mode to get more options like power settings but this laptop looks like it doesn't support debug. Tried 3 different methods but of course they didn't work. Looks like using the laptop with the fan disconnected is my only choice. I put a cpu temp monitor on it down in the tray to keep watch on the cpu..and so far so good.. I don't game so there shouldn't be much of a load on it.
@alexanderr.53910 ай бұрын
You've apparently got a hardwear issue -- some transistor or control chip on the MB is broken. Go find a decent (component level) repair shop to fix it. No reason to wine in comments about the "awful laptop you've bought on garage sale for $15". ACER won't help you either, cause you're out of warranty now.
