Cerakote Trim Coat is the best I have ever used. It’s discussed by many on the FJ Cruiser Forum. So good, I just tried the headlight restore kit.

This method is very cheap and easy. I can apply this technique many many times with the same container.

My vinyl and plastic parts are miracle rain makers. Every time I put a coating of something on them, voilà, it never rains it downpours!

Well the kwik black shoe polish will last well for about a year. We get brutal sun and a lot of rain.

I bought mine at Walmart, but you could probably buy it at Amazon.

I usually use tire spray or maguirs plastic resto

@@AFatOcelot that’s ok if the plastic is still black. If they’re faded or seriously weather checked those products will make them shiny but what I’m doing makes the black and shiny.

#1 question why do you care how it looks as long as it functions ?? beautiful car by the way. I'm saving old subarus (Can get them for scrap prices, toyotas go for 10k). I've had a lot of luck. But I don't care about looks only function.
@RealWorldGarage2 ай бұрын
@@weefek I don’t personally care. But this is a car my daughter also drives occasionally, and I just sent her off to college in it. If there’s something simple I can do like this I will.

I know this was directed at the OP, but I want to give you my 3 biggest reasons for resolving cosmetic issues like faded plastic. 1. Function. Most plastics and rubbers on cars have functions aside from their appearance. The degraded appearance is a warning that the part may lose functionality if left untreated. 2. Resale. Generally a vehicle in perfect working order with moderate cosmetic damage is at best worth the same as a vehicle in perfect cosmetic condition with moderate operational damage. The difference is that it's cheaper to make it look good. 3. Image. It's important for certain people to maintain an image. People like salesmen, business executives, and even independent contractors can lose real business by appearing to not maintain their vehicles. This is my perspective.
