but after treatment, the exhaust does not need high temperature clear coat?
@NobleSpeedmotoworks3 жыл бұрын
Either way, I cleared this pipe since it went on a shifter kart. It will darken up after a few heat cycles. For Moto cross bikes I do not use a clear coat and just keep wd40 on it and hit it with steel wool every now and then.

Hi I have a question, I don't have a bench grinder or anything like that so what else could I use? I feel like a drill wouldn't work becuase it's not attached to anything. Great vid btw

Noble Speed motoworks awsome! Is your pipe steal? Mine is a 2002 yamaha yz85 pipe and I think it's steal.
@charlesgunzelman33236 жыл бұрын
@@karriebhurgari3933 Steel. That's why it rusted. Most stock pipes and cheap aftermarket stuff is steel as well.

Does it have to be baked? And thank you
@NobleSpeedmotoworks6 жыл бұрын
Ben Wolfe no, you can cure the paint by running the bike or go kart a few cycles. Just let it idle for 10 minutes, keep It cleared out so you dont foul the plug. Shut it down, let it cool completely and do this at least 3 times. When it’s time to ride it will get hotter and the paint might get tacky so dirt will stick to it but if you can’t bake it, you just have to deal with it. Unless you can ride in grass or asphalt for a while.

if you just sandblast the pipe do you have to bake it still
@charlesgunzelman33236 жыл бұрын
No. That's just to cure the high temp paint.
@dominicgoff36267 жыл бұрын
does it require baking i have tons of old pipes and i want to experiment on but not a spare oven
@Brockt11987 жыл бұрын
nope if you dont have a sand blaster use scotch brite and sand paper to remove rust
@dominicgoff36267 жыл бұрын
thats not the issue i have a blaster just no oven
@NobleSpeedmotoworks7 жыл бұрын
Dominic Goff for the clear cost to cure it needs to be baked or you can do so on the engine by running it and getting it hot for about 10 minutes, letting it cool and repeat. The only problem with this method is the paint will be tacky when it heats up and dirt will stick to it. If you can just run the engine a few times and not ride it, you will be good

Encore just bringing the original look back to it. Pipes that don't come painted or plated are bare steel and the welds give it a cool look in my opinion.

how long does the clear last? been thinking about doing this to my pipe, as the surface rust is driving me nuts, good video also
@NobleSpeedmotoworks7 жыл бұрын
Micheal Rex this was on a shifter kart so it doesn't get pelted with rocks as bad as a dirtbike but it's pretty solid. Once it bakes on it's on there good. I used the 2000 degree clear so it's not supposed to burn off. Just make sure you put it through a few heat cycles before you get it dirty because the paint gets sticky and the dirt will stick to it and make a mess.
@enduro-parts-aus7 жыл бұрын
cheers for the reply , so even after afew heat cycles the paint still gets sticky once hot? or is it all good once treated afew times
@NobleSpeedmotoworks7 жыл бұрын
It will eventually harden up but it's going to get tacky at some point and get dirty. This one did get sand on it at the bend from the exhaust manifold before the expansion chamber but it most of it came off, it's still better than rust in my opinion. There may be better paint out there too, vht is all I could get.

dam ah well ill still give it a go the rust is so bad on bare metal exhausts

Can I use my kitchens oven fore the heating process?
@NobleSpeedmotoworks7 жыл бұрын
Heni 643 no, not if it’s your oven for food. Basically it turns your oven into a toxic death chamber lol. Won’t want to cook food in it after that. I just bought and old oven from Craigslist for all my powder coating and parts baking.
