Back in college I lived in a semi-crappy neighborhood in Phoenix, AZ. For economy and to make sure I was never distracted by attractive females trying to talk to me during my crucial time of studious concentration, I replaced my big block Impala with a diesel Rabbit. Awesome. But it got almost 50mpg....until some fool boosted the pump. Then it went slightly faster but now only got 42mpg. One day I was headed out the door to get to school, I see my fuel door open and cap dangling. Some cocklick had siphoned bout 5 gallons of diesel leaving me bone dry. I had to enlist the neighbor for a ride to the fuel emporium for a few gallons to get to school. That evening when I returned home with a full tank and a locking cap, the same neighbor who sponsored a lift to the pumps, a shade tree mechanic and close personal friend of mine, summoned me to his home shop. There resided a 1975 Monte Carlo. Hood up. Air cleaner on the fender, float bowl on the bench. He hand me the bowl.....says "SMELL IT!"...... I whiff......diesel. We located the fool who purloined my fuel oils. No one said anything to him. The car suffered all manner of little calamities one night. Tires slashed. More diesel in the tank. It's not hard to pull the remote cable on the hood and fill a crank case full of brake dust as collected from doing drum bakes on trucks. Locks shot full of glue. Main harness cut into more convenient sections. That 5 gallons of diesel cost that kid a lot of money.

I've got one of those Subaru Wisconsin-Robin motors in a minibike, came from an off-grid backup generator. It's an olive coloured industrial unit with the heavy duty air filter but looks just yours, EY15 is familiar, model is W1-145 I think... Couldn't get the jeezless thing to run either. Eventually found out the petcock was the issue, so it was promptly neutered and replaced with the finest quality chinesium dingus in a thread that was close enough. Things been running great for a few years now, even through many hours with definitely not enough oil, no governor, the remaining coarse wire screen of the filter and a 200lb gorilla at the controls.

My dad was given a mini snowblower, happy he got in the truck and got som clean fuel, because he had only premix at home. It purred like a kitten..... till it seized....after about a minute. It was a 2 smoke. RTFM!

I daresay those Honda's are the best motors ever made. I've used them on multiple devices and they just thrive on abuse and neglect. Nevermind that China has probably made billions on the clones.

I haven't come across a Briggs and Stratton I couldn't get going again with just some simple tools. However the Honda engines sure do run smooth for small engines and are quite reliable.

I've had problems starting these Honda engines even when the gasoline is a bit stale. After much cranking, troubleshooting and cussing, I found a fresh tank of gas fixes 'em every time. Using diesel fuel will definitely cause hard starting. As Madprop Boatworks said, "If a Honda engine doesn't start, it's definitely operator error". How true!

Oh we've all been there I think my favorite was when one of the guys at the shop filled a bunch of antifreeze container is up with green diesel and of course the semi was low on coolant and I put it in the radiator and then realized something didn't smell right and ended up having to do a full coolant flush because some dumb-ass decided to put diesel in an antifreeze container

There once was a man from Nantucket. Who put the wrong fuel in the bucket. Along came his friend with a vice in his hand, and he said "To get that out you'll have to suck it!"

Did the same. Someone put diesel in a 5 gal gas can. I added 3 to my 36” proline toro. Had 2 gal gas in it. It ran, kinda funky but why the hell was the exhaust burning my eyes? Cleaned the carb and new fuel filter. Gas in a diesel obviously a major problem

Hi, I started watching your films about 1 month ago and I love it. You have one of the best qualitty that human can have - honesty. That's why I would like to seek help here. I want to buy a hammer drill for a home use. But I keep wandering what to choose. Makita XHP07 or Dewalt DCD996. What in your opinion is more durable? And of course, thank you for the next dose of knowledge.

What else has dew claw been putting up his nose that he can't smell the diesel coming out of the can? I know in the great white North there's white powder I guess it's not all snow....

Dewclaw. The sort of nail/toe that dogs have above their paw which has evolved its self out of usefulness. "Unnecessary appendage" I believe is about the meaning AvE's going for here.

i work in rental, these are everywhere. if you want it good as new, disassemble the carb all the way, put the block in some simple green for 10 min. CRC brake clean will get it the rest of the way, replace o-rings and gaskets as needed. You MAY have to replace the fuel strainer in the tank too (yes, there is a fuel strainer in the tank) but usually you can get one back up and running (like new mind) for like 20 bucks.

I'd like to see that little cone fully choked with product and see how she goes. I wonder if you could put a decent hopper on it and choke feed it a barrow or so. The vibration would probably keep it feeding as long as it's not wet. Hope to see a video 👍 might look for one or some thing similar. Cool bit of kit

fuel cans are color coded for a reason, Yellow - diesel, Red - gas, Blue - kerosene. If you are going to fill the containers with different fuels at least put a label on it.
